Chapter One

In the midst of one of Sunnydale’s several cemeteries, a deadly battle was being waged by supernatural forces. Near the entrance of the cemetery, a demonic brawl was arousing, as tons and tons of vampires were attacking Isis McCafery, a metamorphic demon, as well as Spike, a vampire who had been implanted with a chip that prevented him from harming humans. But, luckily for Spike, it didn’t activate when harming demons and vampires. But it wasn’t Spike or Isis that these vampires were after; it was Jay.

In the center of the cemetery, in a wide open space, Jerrold Irvine Smith, also known as Jay the half-vampire or the Doomed Vampire, was preparing for deadly combat with the renowned Vampire Slayer, Buffy Summers. After killing an otherworldly beast known as a Drokken, Jerrold had discovered that the Slayer had approached him, and was preparing for battle once again.

The night before, the Slayer’s fight against the Doomed Vampire had been postponed when Spike had shown up. Jerrold knew that Buffy was on his side, but unfortunately when he transformed into his demonic vampire side, he would often lose control of himself and let the vampire side take over. Buffy had stolen his trademark stake, tossed him around a bit, and was just getting on his nerves, so he let go of his human conscious and allowed his vampiric conscious to virtually take over.

Unfortunately for Jerrold, he was unarmed because his axe was embedded in the back of the skull of the demonic Drokken. His only weapon, his stake, had been hurled into a nearby tree by the Slayer. This left Jerrold unarmed to face off against Buffy, who was armed with several other weapons.

"Time to finish this," growled Jerrold, as he began to vamp-out into his demonic vampire side, Jay.

"Couldn’t have said it better myself," replied Buffy with amusement, seeing her unarmed opponent attempt to scare her with his demonic looks.

Jay snarled as he and Buffy prepared to square off against one another. Jay was attempting to find some way to get near the Drokken, which had his axe in its skull, or possibly his stake, which Buffy had lodged into a faraway tree.

"You just gonna roam there all day?" replied Buffy flatly, drawing forth his crossbow and pointing it towards Jay. "Cause, ya know, I kinda had other plans."

"Ah, girls and there plans," snarled Jay with amusement. He snorted. "What? Slayage plans? Sounds fun. About as fun as-" But before he could finish, Buffy took the first move.

Buffy fired her crossbow and the arrow hurled towards Jay, but using his speed and reflexes, the half-vampire managed to catch the arrow in midair before it sliced through him. And, before he knew it, Buffy was only several feet away from Jay, with her stake held high.

"Won’t even let me finish." Before Buffy knew it, when she was within several inches of the half-vampire, she felt a searing pain in her shoulder and quickly realized that Jay and ended up stabbing Buffy with the arrow. Before the Slayer could react, Jay drew his arm back and shot it out towards Buffy’s neck, hitting her hard and sending her flying backwards.

An extremely stunned Buffy landed several feet behind where she had started off. The Slayer suddenly realized that the curse that Spike had spoken of said that Jay had inherited strength and abilities of the Slayer from his mother, Lena, the Slayer of that time. Along with his vampiric powers, Jay would be a skilled foe for Buffy to face, especially if he proved to be stronger than even her. As this was flooding into her, she didn’t realize that her crossbow was now several feet away from her, and in two pieces.

Great, thought Buffy, another couple of bucks down the slayage drain.

The instant Buffy hit the ground, Jay swiftly spun around and darted at full speed towards the tree that had his dagger-like stake embedded in it. He knew it wouldn’t be long before Buffy was back on her feet, kicking and stabbing at him again, so he had to use every idle second available.

As Jay reached the tree, he tried to pull out his stake, but he quickly realized that the dagger was jammed in there good, and that it’d take awhile for him to get it out. And his axe, which was still in the skull of the Drokken demon he had killed, was too far away for him to reach in time; Buffy would get to him first. So, he just kept at the stake.

Buffy quickly grabbed her idle stake that lay next to her, and quickly using her Slayer speed rushed towards Jay. Holding her stake high, Buffy figured Jay would be too distracted with the stake to stop her. Buffy lunged at Jay, aiming straight for his heart.

Jay quickly spun around to stop Buffy before she staked him. Hitting his chest, Jay managed to grab the stake before going through him. The half-vampire quickly snapped the stake and slammed his elbow at Buffy’s face, hitting her nose. There was a crack as Jay realized he had broken not only her stake, but her nose as well.

Buffy groaned in pain as she saw blood dripping from her face. "Ow, that hurt." Buffy gave a devilish grin and kneed Jay in the crotch, and the half-vampire screamed in pain, stumbling backwards. "Course, probably not as much as that hurt."

Jay growled lowly and quickly rushed at Buffy. He tackled her, slamming the Slayer to the ground, but as he did, Buffy grabbed Jay and tossed him while he was over her, and sent him soaring behind her.

Jay landed on his back, gave a little groan, but quickly got back up. He glanced around for a moment and quickly located the Drokken. The demon-corpse was now only between him, since Buffy was now behind now. The Doomed Vampire quickly ran at full speed towards the Drokken, before the Vampire Slayer could even figure out what was happening.

Buffy rose up from the ground and quickly swiveled around and darted after Jay, as he made his way to the boar-like demon, which had been attacking him prior to her arrival. But the sight of her own blood, thanks to Jay’s bony elbow, was beginning to slow her down. Her previous scar was on her forehead, due to some deadly activity while attempting to stop the Initiative’s demonic-project gone out of control: Adam.

Jay made his way towards the demon and quickly leaped over it and spun around. But then, there was Buffy, almost within grasp of him. So, Jay quickly pulled the axe out of the Drokken’s skull, and pointed it towards the Slayer, which stopped her in her tracks.

Jay pointed the axe, covered and drenched in the Drokken’s blood, at Buffy, who was now aware that she was the one who was unarmed, only with her stake which could only do some much when it came to fighting a vampire with an axe.

They stood there for a moment, head-to-head, awaiting the outcome of the long and tiring night.

* * * *

"Ya know, I bring the Slayer along to help me out," complained Isis McCafery, as she kicked a vampire in the stomach and punched another vampire in the face. "Ya know, the superhuman strength of the Chosen One, who is destined to slay the vampires and all that." The metamorphic demon, who was currently in her vampiric transformation, quickly vamped out, scaring several of the vampires surrounding her. Isis lunged in at one, and snapped the neck of one of the vampires, and forced it to stumble away. "But no! When it comes down to helpin’ to kill the vamps here, she’s rushes off to kill Jay- or get herself killed by Jay, one of the two…" Isis drew forth a stake and lunged in for the kill. She swiftly dusted the vampire’s whose neck had been snapped, and tackled the vampire that she in kicked in the stomach, quickly staking it as well.

The metamorphic demon, Isis, was being swarmed by vampires as she and the de-fanged, chip-wearing, white-haired vampire, Spike, fought off the dozen of vampires that were surrounding them. Spike had accidentally stumbled upon a vampire feud, and decided to join in when they discovered they were fighting over a caged Jay. Unfortunately, more and more vampires started to appear. Isis, who had with Buffy Summers, had stumbled into the battle and helped Spike and Jay fight off these vampires. Isis called for Buffy to help, but she quickly followed after Jay, leaving herself and Spike to finish off these vampires.

Spike’s concerns, on the other hand, were more with Damien, who appeared to be in charge of most of these vampires. He was one of the vampires that had captured Jay when the half-vamp was attacking a nest of vampires and he was ambushed. And, apparently, Damien was a pretty strong and skilled vampire.

And, unfortunately for Spike and Isis, the vampires just kept on coming and coming. It was like an unstoppable flood of undead demons.

"You know, and who’s left to do all the work and to take care of you annoying-ass vamps?" The vampire that Isis had punched in the stomach quickly swiveled around and began to dart away, but as it did, it slowly stopped in fear as twin red eyes flashed at the demonic creature and slowly made its way towards the vampire. Before the demon knew it, a strange, new demon was right in its face. It was a hairy, beastly creature, that was armored with razor sharp claws, that could pierce through metal, as well as a small wooden thumb, some long, sharp, and deadly teeth, as well as bloodshot, blood chilling, eyes. It was a Palgorean demon- more frequently known as a vampire-eater. But the vampire froze in horror when it realized that the demon that stood in front of him, was the girl that had staked the previous vampires. "Me! The deadly, infamous- well I think I’m infamous anyways- metamorphic demon, Isis." The beast suddenly lunged at the vampire, and extended its already long and sharp claws, so that it could trap the vampire. Isis’s claws dug into the vampire’s arms and right into its side, forcing unbearable pain and making it unable for the vampire to move, since the claws went through the vampire’s arms, into his sides, and right through his ribcage.

"No," cried the vampire in horror.

"Trust me," replied Isis darkly, "vampires taste too dusty anyways, somethin’ wrong with the blood and stuff." Isis’s jaw opened up and swiftly dug into the vampire’s shoulder, quickly ripping off a piece of it, and swallowing it. As the vampire hollered in pain, Isis gave a large grin, which revealing a small chunk of the vampire’s shoulder left within her teeth.

"Yup, way too dust. Might as well just kill you now." Isis’s jaw extended even further and Isis managed to fit the vampire’s head within its jaw, and she clamped down, swiftly ripping its head off of its shoulder. Within seconds, the vampire turned to dust, and Isis returned to her neutral, demonic shape, and then transformed into her human form. Isis began to gag and spat out the small piece of the shoulder. "Man. It’s always the dry, bloodless ones that get stuck in your teeth. That, and the old mans, yuck."

Isis glanced around to look at the current situations. First off, her top priority was the fact that she wasn’t naked, though with her tattered clothes, she was on the verge of it. Another reason why she didn’t like to transform into big, beasty, demons was that when she changed into her human transformation, her pants and shirt, not to mention shoes, would be torn to pieces. Though, this proved to be a good distraction for a lot of the male- as well as several of the female- demons (especially when it came to vampires). The second thing that was happening was the vampires had apparently seen Isis’s transformation, and was veering away from the metamorphic demon and focusing their attack on Spike. So now, the vampires were all beginning to swarm around the poor, helpless, de-fanged, chip-wearing vampire. And Isis knew that her human form couldn’t stop them all in time.

The metamorphic demon sighed then groaned. "Ya know, I am seriously gonna need to floss when I get home." Isis closed her eyes and reverted back to her demonic form. In this form, she appeared to be a totally gray, pale, small, skinny, and flat chested, with no hair. She almost seemed perfectly helpless, except for her multiple rows of sharp teeth that she kept concealed within her mouth. She continued focusing, and transformed into the demonic, vampire-eating demon and chuckled. "Time for some fun." Isis gave a low growl and quickly lunged into the crowd of vampires.

* * * *

"So, just because you think you have your axe now, you can beat me?" replied Buffy with a satisfied smirk.

"What do you think?" growled Jay, continuing to stare her down.

Buffy raised and eyebrow and shrugged. "The more weapons the merrier. All that means is a tougher challenge. I’m ready for that." Buffy quickly did a cartwheel, reversing directions to get away from Jay and his axe.

"Runnin’ away Slayer?" Jay, grasping the axe tightly, leaped over the fallen Drokken and quickly rushed after the cartwheeling Buffy, as she slowly set her trap to disarm Jay. The half-vamp tried slashing at Buffy, but she kept on cartwheeling away, easily evading Jay’s attacks. That was until…

Buffy suddenly went from a cartwheel into a flip and landed on the ground. She quickly spun around towards the incoming Jay, performing a roundhouse kick, and swiftly managed to knock the axe out of the Doomed Vampire’s hands.

Jay’s axe soared through the axe and sunk into the ground, not too far away from the Slayer and the Doomed Vampire. Jay and Buffy hesitated for a moment, quickly exchanging a brief glance at each other and quickly swiveled around and hurried towards the lonely axe.

Jay and Buffy lunged at the axe, but Jay’s agility managed to outmaneuver Buffy’s, and he was able to grab the axe first. But, as his hands grasped the hand of the axe, the Slayer saw an opportunity the strike back and as she landed on the ground next to him, she quickly shot out her elbow into Jay’s nose, breaking it as he had broken hers. But, Jay didn’t let go, and managed to pull the axe out of the ground, and swung the axe flying towards Buffy’s direction.

Luckily for the Vampire Slayer, the blade was still facing downwards and the flat side of the blade hit Buffy’s face and sent her flying backwards. Unfortunately for Jay, Buffy’s elbow maneuver forced Jay to lose grip of the axe, and it went hurling up into the air. This time, it landed by a tree, much too far for either Jay or Buffy to get in time without the other tackling one of them. It was unarmed combat now.

As Jay began to get back up, an angry, as well as a bruised, Buffy slammed into Jay, pinning him to the ground. Jay growled with annoyance as Buffy prepared to punch him in the face. As her fist headed towards Jay’s face, he grabbed the Slayer’s fist in midair, and quickly grabbed the other. The two were going head to head, and were matching each other’s strengths exactly.

And in the midst of the battle and confusion, neither the Vampire Slayer nor the Doomed Vampire noticed a shadowy demon soaring overhead with his four, large, leathery wings, and armed with a deadly sword, heading straight towards Isis, Spike, and the vampire herd. And unfortunately for the metamorphic demon and the chipped-vampire, the demon was aiding the vampires…

Chapter Two

"All I wanted to do is watch a tad bit of me new tele," replied Spike, punching Damien in the face, and then quickly elbowing an incoming vampire and then headbutting another vamp. He quickly swiveled around and punched a vampire, who was trying to attack him from behind in the gut and sent it stumbling backwards. "But no, no, bleeding no! But you lack-brain, nancy-boy vamps had to start up the lil quarrel and all that around the lil vamp." Spike swiveled pulled out his stake and dusted the vampire he had elbowed in the face and turned around and punched Damien in the face. The de-fanged vampire attempted to stake Damien, but as he did, Damien swiftly kicked Spike in the gut and sent him flying backwards and slammed into the ground. It was obvious that Damien’s strength surpassed Spike’s for some reason.

"Well, well, well," replied Damien, with a vile grin spread across his face, slowly walking towards Spike, in the midst of the chaos and confusion. A vampire-eating demon, which was apparently the young girl who was aiding Spike and Jerrold several minutes earlier, was taking down a majority of the vampires in the area. This wasn’t voting well for Damien and his lackeys. But if he was able to take out Spike, then it was almost all worth it. "I guess this is just ‘bloody lovely’ then, huh Spike. It’s been fun."

As Damien quickly rushed towards the helpless Spike, the dark vampire suddenly froze as a shadow loomed over the vampires and quickly landed on the nearby mausoleum. The demon spread its four wings in the air, and raised his sharp sword up into the air, reflecting the light of the moon upon the herd of vampires.

All the demons, including Spike and Isis, suddenly froze in fear as the demon swung its sword around in a circular position and jumped down to the ground. All of the vampires, excluding Spike, all fell silent and quickly rushed away from the deadly demon; everyone that is, except Damien.

"What the bloody hell are you," replied Spike, as Damien shot to the demon.

The four-winged demon snorted and replied, "You could not kill this one?"

"This’d be Spike," replied Damien sourly, "an extremely deadly vampire- in his time. Unfortunately for him, the infamous Initiative stuck a little chip in his little brain, preventing him from harming humans." Damien waved his finger and replied, "Course, that doesn’t count for demons, huh Spike?"

"Nope, nope, nope," replied Spike, as he began to shake his face, reverting back to his human look. "Wouldn’t want to bore myself to death, now would I?"

"Kill him after we kill the Doomed Vampire," growled the demon darkly. He pointed his sword towards Damien and replied, "Try anything before hand, there’ll be a sword through your neck, or a stake through your chest."

Spike snorted and rolled up his sleeves, quickly vamping out. He brushed back his greased hair, and pulled out a stake. "I’ll put a stake through your chest right now, mate." Spike quickly rushed towards the demon, snarling with entertainment, but before Spike could do a single thing, the winged demon had moved at an incredibly fast speed and had jabbed its sword straight through Spike.

"Spike!" cried Isis, quickly reverting back to her plain, thin, gray, demonic form, rushing to aid Spike, though her first instinctive thoughts were too feed off of him while he was hurt. She would have gotten closer, but, unfortunately for Spike, he was still on the other end of the demon’s sword.

"I believe the phrase is, ‘sod off.’" Damien gave an amused smirk as he turned towards the large demon, who drew Spike off of the end of its sword, leaving the white-hair vampire in an extraordinarily large amount of pain. Damien Hunt stood in front of the four-winged demon and shrugged. "I believe our little Jay ran off to face the Slayer. Shall kill him now, Master Lohesh?"

The demon snorted and replied, "No point in killing him with the Slayer around. Apparently, our little Slayer sees the Doomed Vampire as a threat. If she wants to kill him, I say she should try. Let the Slayer get herself killed, so what I care." The demon, who Damien had called Lohesh, flapped its wings and quickly began to rise up into the night sky. "Let the Slayer fight. Once she is weakened and killed, Jay will fall upon, and his humanity will get the best of him. And tomorrow night, shall be his defeat."

Damien, ignoring Isis and the injured Spike, quickly followed under the shadow of the demonic creature. "And if they don’t finish each other off!"

"Well, either way, a little gift’s on its way."

Damien gave a low growl and the demon called Lohesh flew away. He quickly swiveled around towards Isis, who was glaring angrily at Damien. "Oh what do you want, you sad excuse for a demon."

"Look who’s talking," replied Isis, quickly reverting back to her vampiric transformation. "Taking orders from a low-life lohesh- a demon thought to be dead."

"The Lohesh," corrected Damien, with an amused smirk. "Course, you’ll figure out what that means later. For now, I’d say you’d do one of these two things: Save your vamp boyfriend, or save Spike. Choose whichever one you want, but I’m gone." Isis hadn’t noticed Damien pulling out several small orbs from his pocket as the metamorphic demon quickly rushed towards her. Damien hurled the small orbs towards the ground and they quickly exploded with a blast of light. Isis snarled with angry as the harsh light from the magickal orb expanded and harmed Isis’s vampiric eyes. Isis stumbled backwards and when he vision successfully returned, Damien was gone.

Isis took in a deep breath and reverted back to her natural demonic form. "Jay can handle himself against Buffy- and if not, then I’m fine anyways." She glanced back at Spike, who was groaning in pain from the huge hole in his shoulder. "Besides, our lil chip-filled Spike will probably need to be dragged back to his crypt." She groaned and wandered towards Spike. "Though, can’t see what could be worse than dragging around Spike or breaking up a fight between the Doomed Vampire and the Slayer."

* * * *

"Get off!" growled Jay angrily. With Buffy still on top of Jay, and their fists still clashing and matching their strengths exactly, neither the Slayer nor the Doomed Vampire seemed to noticed the large, four-winged demon fly overhead, or sensed the incoming threat. But Jay had other things on his mind, as he pulled back his legs and quickly kicked Buffy in the stomach, sending her soaring upward.

Jay quickly rolled aside out of the way and swiftly rose up to his feet as Buffy landed on the ground. "Graceful Slayer. You should really work on your-" But before Jay could finish, an extremely pissed off Slayer attacked.

Buffy shot out her leg and kicked Jay in the lower part of his leg, forcing him to drop down to one knee, and Buffy took this moment to launch out her fist, which nailed Jay right in the jaw. She pulled back her arm and punched the half-vamp in the face, and when he was too dazed to counter, Buffy lifted up Jay and threw him towards the nearest tree, forcing the tree to topple over.

"Well Jay," replied Buffy smirking, "I guess you’re just one more useless, annoying, wannabe ‘big-bad’ vamp, turned to-" But before Buffy could finish, she quickly swiveled around and there stood three of the strangest looking vampires she had ever seen. "Apparently, Jay’s called for backup, or your just a bunch of lowlife vamps are looking for the little suck-fest two doors down."

But, as the three vampires continued to approach her, she suddenly froze in horror as she realized that these vamps were much different from the usual undead she had to face. The vampire’s teeth radiated a strange light as they moved towards Buffy, and as they stepped into the moonlight Buffy could see something wrong with their arms; they resembled hooks more than any sort of limbs- almost like scythes.

"Someone needs their nails trimmed," murmured Buffy, cautiously moving backwards, as she prepared to draw out her stake, but quickly realizing that Jay had snapped it in two. She’d have to improvise somehow- or maybe get these strange, twisted, vamps to turn on Jay.

But as she glanced towards Jay, she suddenly froze in horror as another vampire approached Jay. She appeared to simply be another random vampire, though Buffy’s Slayer intuition told her otherwise. Something told her that if she was with these other weirded-out vamps, there’d be something different about her.

Course, she and Jay can duke it out all they want, thought Buffy, as the strange vampires approached her, But then I still have to take out thin, long, and pointy. She glanced around and realized that she’d need to get Jay’s stake in order to take out these demonic vamps- if a normal stake would be enough to stop them. But at the moment, that’d be the only weapon she’d have.

Buffy took a deep breath and quickly rushed away from the triad of strange, twisted vamps, and made her way towards the tree which she had lodged Jay’s stake into.

The three vampires snarled with enjoyment as they made their way after Buffy.

* * * *

"Ugh," groaned Jay, as he attempted to lift himself up from next to the fallen tree. He quickly realized that he was in serious pain, and the Slayer had, unfortunately for him, kicked his ass. And now, he had fallen, and couldn’t exactly get back up. Just my luck- from slaying a Drokken to being slain by the Slayer. Grand. And, slightly ironic…

Jay’s human subconscious was finally beginning to finally knock some sense into his demonic vampire side. He was quickly realizing that fighting Buffy was pointless and would result in getting one of them killed, and at the moment, it looked as if it’d be Jay.

But, to his surprise, a hand shot out towards Jay, waiting for him to grab it so he could get up. Was it Buffy? Had she come to her senses? Or was it his informant, Isis?

Jay grasped the hand and pulled it up and Jay managed to get to his feet, still in a large amount of pain though.

"Oh, thanks for the…lift." Jay froze in horror when a female vampire snarled with amusement and glared at Jay with contentment. "Oh goody, a vampire. Because, that’s something new." Jay, attempting to hold in his pain, prepared to punch the female vamp in the face, sending her soaring, but before Jay could even flinch, a strange, powerful, force, projected from the vampire, sent the half-vamp soaring up backwards into the sky.

"Well," replied the dark-hair vampire, as she rushed towards the confused, and harmed, Jay, "I’d say compared to all the other vampires you’ve faced tonight, I’m very new." As she waited for him to pull himself together, she became impatient, and suddenly Jay was hovering in the air, suspended by some strange, almost magickal force.

"Telekinesis," growled Jay darkly, as the female vamp lowered him to the ground. "You’re a psychic vampire."

"One of the few," growled the girl, revealing a stake. "Sorry Jay, this ends now."

* * * *

Buffy had managed to get ahead of the strange, deformed, vampires with her Slayer speed in order to outmaneuvering their vampire speed. She saw the tree that held Jay’s stake within it, and she rushed up towards the tree, she quickly halted herself as she began to tug at the stake. But, as Jay had realized before, Buffy had managed to hurl that stake pretty far into the tree, and it wasn’t coming out anytime soon. She quickly stopped when she sensed something behind.

Buffy swiftly ducked down and spun around towards the vampires and they quickly swiped their thin, sickle-like arms at Buffy. The Slayer shot her leg out as she spun around, knocking the nearest vamp on its back, as Buffy began to get back up.

The other two vampires growled angrily and began swiping at the Slayer. But luckily for Buffy, she managed to stay one step ahead of them. As they slashed at her, attempting to take off several limbs, her Slayer skills and senses helped her dodge the incoming attacks and quickly came up with an idea.

She lured the two active vampire-ish creatures towards the tree that held Jay’s stake in place, and as one of the vamps lunged at her, Buffy took a deep breath and pushed herself off the ground up into the air. Buffy soared upward and landed on one of the branches of the tree that held Jay’s stake.

The vampire that was attempting to attack her ended up slicing right through the tree and slowly the tree began to wobble and Buffy and the tree started to fall.

Buffy swiftly launched herself off of the tree and kicked the second vampire in the face, sending it flying backwards towards the first vampire on the ground. Buffy spun around just in time to see the large tree landing on the remaining vampire, crushing the demon and splitting the tree into several parts.

Buffy quickly spotted Jay’s stake.

"Finally," murmured Buffy, as she quickly made her way to the remains and splinters of the tree. "I mean, all this for three annoying little vamps with a serious hand problem-" Buffy instantly froze as the crushed-vampire emerged from the shatters of the fallen tree. "Great."

"Slayer," growled the strange vampire darkly.

"Why can’t you vamps just leave me alone- there’d probably be more of you if you did!" Buffy sighed as she headed towards the vampire, quickly seeing a large piece of wood from the fallen tree nearby. "Stake… twig… pencil, any sharp-pointy object will do. They’re all pretty much the same in the end." She quickly kicked up the piece of wood and it soared up into her hand. As she did this, the vampire-like creature lunged towards her, sickles first, ready to attack.

* * * *

"You know, for a legendary vampire, you’re kinda… well, I guess I had higher expectations about you, Jay," replied the vampire, as she slowly approached the injured vampire. "Oh well, I guess you’re still sorta a young little guy. You’re what, fourteen? Fifteen?"

"Almost fifteen," replied Jay, slowly pulling himself from off the ground. "What are you…fifty?"

The female vamp growled darkly and suddenly stopped walking and shot out her hands. Suddenly a psychic force slammed into Jay and sent him flying backwards again and landed on his back. "Fifty! How rude! You should never guess a lady’s age." The psychic vampire gave a little snarl and quickly rushed towards Jay before he could even pull himself up. She grabbed Jay by the throat and lifted him up in the air. "It’s two-hundred seventy-nine, Jay."

"Funny," muttered Jay, attempting to kick the vamp in the stomach, but he was extremely weak and he couldn’t do much in this state. He managed to look passed the psychic vampire and gave an amused little chuckle. "Almost as funny as that."

The psychic vampire snorted and shook her head. "You think I’d fall for a little trick like that? The old fashion diversion and misdirection thing. Tsk tsk-" The female vampire suddenly froze when she heard the cry of a vampire as it exploded into dust, and she quickly dropped Jay and spun around. She watched as one of her vampire lackeys faded away into the night air, and revealed Buffy preparing to go after her other two vampires.

Jay chuckled as the psychic vampire swiveled around, giving a low growl. Her eyes had turned purely black, and she was radiating with psychic energy. "I’d be careful what you laugh at little boy."

Jay gave a low growl and replied, "Who are you calling-" Suddenly, an extremely powerful force surged through the half-vampire’s body and quickly lifted him off the ground and launched him upward. This time, the powerful psychic energy sent the Doomed Vampire flying high up into the darkness of the night, flying out of the cemetery and into the town of Sunnydale.

The psychic vampire smirked and quickly rushed towards the Slayer, who was about to take out her remaining two lackeys. As the Slayer was about to attack, the psychic vamp closed her eyes and stopped Buffy in her tracks, just as she had done with Jay. Only this time, the psychic vamp was putting an extremely large amount of pressure on the Vampire Slayer- so much pressure that it would crush a normal human being. So, that meant that if Buffy didn’t keep on fighting the vampire’s psychic force, she’d be crushed too.

"I wouldn’t move Slayer," replied the psychic vampire with a smirk. She glared angrily at the two twisted vampires and shook her heads. "A simple Slayer- how could you have failed me! Lohesh will need you all of you asanbosam for our mission tomorrow night- so go now before I decide put a stake through you."

"Yes Mistress Kali." The strange, vampire-like creatures gave low growls at the Slayer, still suspended in midair, and quickly rushed off into the darkness of the night. The dark hair vampire smirked, revealing her sharp teeth and turned the Slayer around, still suspended in the air.

"Sorry Slayer, gotta run." She waved as she backed away and walked into the darkness of the night. "You’ll be fine in acouple of minutes. But if you don’t want to end up like this tomorrow night, I’d suggest you stay away from Jay…"

Chapter Three

Sunnydale looked calm and serene up in the dark skies of California. Unfortunately for the Doomed Vampire, the sight and the view weren’t really the things on his mind at the moment, as he soared over the town of Sunnydale. As he flew up into the air, he could still see the cemetery in which the psychic vampire had launched him from. But the cemetery quickly disappeared behind the buildings in the town as he began to fall from the sky.

Many vampire mythologies spoke of vampires flying through the night skies, or vampires transforming into bats or various other animals. Unfortunately, only Dracula and various other vampires who had gypsy and magickal influences could actually transform into animals- that and of course demons who feed on animals and transformed into dead and/or drained animal (similar to metamorphic demons like Isis).

But Jay was not any of those- he was just your usual half-vampire half-human and even though he wouldn’t die from the drop, he knew it’d hurt like hell. So Jay cringed as he fell from the night skies of Sunnydale.

The vampire, quickly feeling his stomach drop, slammed into the empty streets of Sunnydale, cracking the concrete streets of the southern California town.

"Ow, my back," mumbled Jay, as he momentarily reverted back to his human side and felt a surge of pain shoot through his body and quickly returned to his vampire form. "I forgot how annoying psychic vampires can be…" Jay groaned in pain as he slowly got up and glanced around.

Several pedestrians had stopped walking and stared in horror as they watched Jay fall from the sky, and just as quickly get up. And then there was a wave of terror as one of the people saw Jay’s demonic face and screamed in terror.

The tiny street had quickly exploded in a swarm of pandemonium in under minute, and it had quickly itself cleared out, leaving Jay to drag himself home.

He chuckled with contentment, quickly stopping when it began to hurt, and pointed to a street sign. "That’s my street…" And so, Jay managed to drag himself home, after the deadly battle with the Slayer and facing off against a deadly psychic vampire.

But he knew things were far from over.

"Uh…Slayer? Is that you Buff?" Isis tilted her head, as she examined the body, suspended in midair by some sort of psychic force. "…Buffy?"

Isis released a tiny shriek as the blonde dropped from midair and landed on the ground. She quickly rushed to the woman’s aid, and as she had assumed it was none other than the Slayer. "Hey, it is you Buffy." Her smirk quickly brightened as she realized she was alone. "And I see that Jay’s not here. Does that mean that he’s…"

"Still alive," answered Buffy in pain, attempting to get up. "Some strange vampires came out of nowhere and ambushed us."

Isis wrinkled her nose and sighed. "You sided with each other?"

"No," replied Buffy, managing to stand up on her two feet and wobbling towards the fallen tree. "We were fighting, and then a strange female vamp starting fighting with Jay and then these ugly-ass vamps, who had sickle-like arms, started attacking me." Buffy bent down, releasing a small cry of pain that came from her injured shoulder, as she fished around in the piles of splinters and chips of wood and when she came back up she held Jerrold’s dagger-like stake. "And then, Jay disappeared and the vampire that was fighting him came up to me and, well… I dunno what to call it. She suspended me in the air with some sort of energy."

"Magicks?" asked Isis slowly.

"Possibly," murmured Buffy, rubbing the back of her head and attempting to stretch her arms, but quickly stopping when she discovered how much pain she was in. "What happened to Spike and the other vampires?"

"This big winged thing came down out of nowhere," answered Isis, putting her arm around Buffy to help support her. "Scared off all the other vamps. Then, thick-headed Spike attempted to take on the thing, and the demon stabbed Spike with a sword." The metamorphic demon sighed. "Not exactly his most graceful moment, since I had to drag him off back to his crypt afterwards."

Buffy smiled and chuckled. "Sorry I missed that. Could’ve used a good laugh."

Isis didn’t return a friendly smirk, though Buffy couldn’t see her face so Isis didn’t really care. Buffy had an odd attitude when it came to Spike for some reason. Even though he was trying and attempting to help, she wasn’t crediting him for anything. "Where do you want me to drop you off?"

"The entrance of the cemetery is fine," murmured the Slayer, obviously exhausted from the fight with Jay and the other vampires. "You know me, Slayer strength and all."

Isis sighed, realizing that Buffy was acting somewhat delusion; drained almost. She was weak, as if the energy had been sucked out of her. A psychic vampire, perhaps? If one drained the energy of a Slayer, it’ll be powered up for several days, even a week at the most. But she figured Buffy wouldn’t need to know this. The psychic vamp would be going after Jay, and if Buffy stepped in its way, then that’d be her own problem. Plus, it would end up getting rid of two pests: The Doomed Vampire and the Slayer.

As Isis helped Buffy towards the entrance of cemetery, neither girl saw the four-winged demon dropped down from the sky with his deadly blade, glistening a crimson red from the light of the moon, and from the blood on its sword.

The demon shook its head and ignored the Slayer and the metamorphic demon as they walked away and turned towards the fallen Drokken beast that Jay had slain not too long ago. The demon held up its sword and the blade, the demon, and the fallen monster all began to glow with a strange aura that flowed from Lohesh through his sword, and into the Drokken.

Before the demon knew it, the Drokken beast’s eyes quickly shot open and gave a low growl and quickly stop up, with the half-vampire’s axe still through his head. "My Master, I what is it that you wish?"

Lohesh smirked as he grasped Jay’s axe and tore it out from the Drokken, allowing it to momentarily scream in pain before Lohesh explained what was happening. "To revivify a creature like yourself is a hard thing to pull off, beast." Lohesh swung his sword around and placed it in its holder. "Do not fail me again Drokken. I have enhanced your abilities to stop Jay- and if you don’t stop him this time… then I see no use to you." Lohesh spread out his wings and flew up into the night sky.

"Yes master," replied the Drokken, nodding its head as the demon flew off.

"And if you fail and Jay doesn’t kill you… I will."

Beep-Beep! Beep-Beep! Beep-Beep!

"Ugh," groaned the half-vampire as he swatted his hand towards his alarm clock. If there wasn’t anything worst then being attacked by demons, propelled up into the sky by psychic vampires, and knocked around by Slayers, it was those annoying-ass alarm clocks that so often tried to wake him up.

Jerrold fished around for his alarm clock until he became too frustrated and simply slammed his fist into the bed, sending the small alarm clock soaring up into the air and crashing into the ceiling.

Somehow, Jay had managed to reach his house before collapsing on the stairs inside of his flat. Around three in the morning, about two hours after he got home, then Jay had awaken, regaining a little of his strength. He pulled himself to his bed, pulled the covers over him, and quickly passed out again. Unfortunately for him, his alarm clock managed to reset itself after being turned off, and he was always too tired to figure out how to turn it off permanently.

The half-human slowly rose up from under the covers of his bed, groaning in pain as he began to move. He dragged himself to the nearby mirror, examining his bruises. Most of them weren’t too visible, so he figured he wouldn’t have any grief over at school. "I got into a fight," he would simply say, though he had a feeling that his teacher wouldn’t really care about his petty squabbles.

Jerrold yawned and stretched, popping his back and several other parts of his body as he mumbled something and wandered over to his bathroom for a nice, long, early morning, warm shower. He unfortunately knew that his class would be tested today, and he really wasn’t in the mood for an exam.

"There is truly no true rest for the damned," muttered Jerrold as he closed his door to the bathroom.

"And arms that looked like sickles you say?" asked Giles, looking up from his book, up towards Buffy, who was sitting next to Xander and Anya.

"No," said Buffy, "I said they looked like long hook-things." Giles eyed her with annoyance and she gave an innocent smirk and said, "Yes, they looked like sickles."

After her rough encounter with Jay, the three sickle-vampires, and the strange magick-vampire, Buffy concluded that it would be best to have a gathering of the Scoobies; her friends that helped her with slaying.

Xander Harris, as well as Willow Rosenberg, were Buffy’s closest friends ever since she had moved to Sunnydale from LA. Though both started out as relatively helpless people, with Xander always trying to help out with the slaying (which resulting in him getting knocked unconscious a lot) and Willow doing most of the research with Giles. But, during senior year, Willow had decided to look into witchcraft and she quickly excelled during their first year of college, when she met Tara. The two Wiccans quickly started a close and personal relationship, exploring into many things, other than just magicks. Xander, on the other hand, remained the same old Xander, with no special abilities, though he had become somewhat of a better fighter- thought not that great of a fighter.

Anya, when Buffy had first met her, was an ex-vengeance demon who lost her powers after fulfilling the wish of Cordelia, an ex-Scooby member that had moved to LA, of living in a world where Buffy had never moved to Sunnydale. That Sunnydale ended up being a world that was infested with vampires and fiends, and was ruled by the Master, the first big-bad demon Buffy had faced when she moved to Sunnydale. In the end, Giles managed to destroy Anya’s locket, which concealed her powers, and trapped her as a human. After that, she began helping Buffy and her friends, course that was after she began a "relationship" with Xander. Though, a majority of that relationship was… well, sex.

Among the other Scoobies was Tara, Willow’s girlfriend, who was with Willow practicing some magicks in their room, as well as Buffy’s boyfriend Riley, who was out at a government briefing. Riley had been a lab-rat at this government agency, called the Initiative, which Buffy, Xander, Willow, and Giles had managed to help destroy (with, of course, the help of dozens of demons, which this government agency had been testing on). Spike was among this demon lab-rats, because they had put a chip in his brain, which prevented him from harming people. And now Riley was with his government buddies, trying to clear their names.

Buffy had assembled the group at Giles’s home in order to discuss the vampire attacks, in hope to be able to stop them tonight.

As usual, Giles was looking in his books, Buffy was listening insightfully waiting to hear how she could kill these demons, and Xander was attempting to listen too, and Anya made small annoying comments, which, oddly enough, ended up helping the group quite often.

"You know Giles," said Buffy, standing up and pacing towards him, "the way these vamps looked, it somewhat remained me of this vampire I dusted during the Master’s reign. He had the metal claw thing he used and-"

"Well Buffy the way you described these vampires, they appear to have naturally grown these sickle-like arms opposed to have them fused onto them," replied Giles, interrupting the Slayer’s theory. "Almost like a species of vampires."

"Great," murmured Buffy, glancing towards Xander and Anya, "species."

"So there’s like a whole band of Wolverine-vampire-wannabes somewhere out there, looking to kill Buffy?" said Xander. "Kinda like demonic, hybrid thingies, people like the Initiative would create."

"I have a feeling the failure with their first hybrid weapon kinda halted all other experiments," replied Buffy, with a grim grin. She was still exhausted from the attack vampire attacks, as well as being exhausted from the Initiative attack.

"Well," said Xander, clearing his throat, and giving that "I’m about to make a bad joke" sorta sound, and stood up, dusting off his clothes, "it is safe to say that we haven’t the slightest idea what we’re dealing."

"An asanbosam vampire," Buffy and Anya suddenly said in unison.

Xander blinked several times, exchanging confused glances at Buffy and Anya, sighed, and then silently sat down next to his girlfriend, who gave him a sympathetic pat on the back.

"This other vampire in the cemetery called them that," explained Buffy. "They were her lackeys, but she looked like a normal vampire."

"Huh," murmured Giles, adjusting his glasses like he often did when he was slightly confused by Buffy. "And there was nothing special about this other vampire?"

"Well, nothing much… aside from the whole strange levitating powers deal," complained Buffy, falling down in the chair in front of Giles.

"A psychic vampire and an asanbosam vampire," replied Anya again. "Both really old vampire species that rarely surface. Most psychic vampires have been killed off, and it was said that asanbosam vamps were extinct…" Anya gave a pleased smirk at Xander and replied, "See Xander. I am capable of talking about other things than our sex life."

"Yes… quite," murmured Giles, rolling his eyes and quickly picking up a book.

"What?" replied Anya, as Xander groaned with annoyance. "It’s not like I’m going into great lengths about our naughty nightly life. I only greet the group with a story from now and then to lighten the mood."

Buffy and Giles both stared at Anya and Xander for a moment, both shuttering afterwards.

"Honey, I think they wouldn’t mind not hearing a story now and then," replied Xander.

"Or ever," whispered Giles, as he passed by the couch.

"But did you see the faces of disappointment?" agreed Anya angrily. "It perks them up to hear our exciting, and yet slightly humorous, tales."

"No, Anya, I have a feeling all those looks were hopeful faces that were thinking ‘oh yay, no Xander-Anya story for today,’" replied Xander. "And perk wouldn’t be the best word to use when you’re trying to get people away from that topic."

Agitated and frustrated, Anya gave an angry sight, and replied, "Fine, Xander. If that’s how you want to be, then there won’t even be anything perking of any kind coming from me, nor will there be any story to be told for tomorrow- if you catch my drift, Xander."

Buffy let a small smirk of amusement slip, as Xander turned bright red and began sinking into Giles’s couch, attempting somehow to get away from the embarrassment Anya was causing him.

Giles cleared his throat, continuing his search. "Asanbosam vampires you say?"

"Yup," replied Anya proudly, knowing that her knowledge of the demon world was helping the group out. "Vampires found around Africa, if it helps at all." Anya gave a pleased smirk and whispered to Xander, "See, I’m helping."

Buffy smiled happily at Xander and Anya, but quickly faded as Giles handed the Slayer a book. "Are these the vampires you saw?"

Buffy peered at the book, with Xander and Anya glancing over her shoulder, and gave a little nod. "Yup. Asanbosam vamps."

"Just as I thought," murmured Giles, picking up the book. "Asanbosam, a vampire found in Africa, known among the Ashanti of southern Ghana. These creatures are believed to have resided deep within the Ashanti forests. They were most often encountered there by hunters, before it was said that these species of vampire went extinct."

"Ah yes," replied Xander, "because that’s smart- hunting for demonic, sickley vampires." Giles looked up from his book, glaring at Xander for his annoying, pointless comment. This made Xander slide down further into the couch. "Continue."

"These vampires tended to look generally human shaped, like most vampires, but with two exceptions: they had steel scythes in place of their arms, and their teeth were made of iron," concluded Giles, closing the book.

Buffy cringed and repeated, "Iron teeth."

"Yes, or so this book says," answered Giles. "So, it would be best to not punch them in the head, or at least the general mouth area, unless you’re looking to break your hand."

"Check," replied Buffy with an assuring nod.

"And then there are psychic vampires, which I could tell you about," said Anya, proudly again. "No need for Giles’s old, musty, books." Anya gave a satisfied grin, as Giles turned away to put the book back on its shelf. "Psychic vampires are said to be the most dangerous of all vampires, though I have encountered several in my time as a vengeance demon and lived to tell to the tale. They feed off the energy of victims, especially while sleeping or in a state of stillness, such as in a trance or in suspension."

Buffy froze in horror, realizing what that strange pressure from that magick vampire was. That must have been its equivalent to feeding off of a human; draining Buffy of her energy. And if it did drain Buffy’s energy, the energy of the Slayer, this vamp would be extremely strong afterwards, so several hours… or even days.

"These vamps are rarely seen nowadays, but my recommendation is if you’re going up against one, you better be well prepared," suggested Anya with a little nod. "Crosses are able to repel these vampire’s psychic energy."

Xander stood up again, getting out of his slouched position, and boldly asked, "So, when do we take on these lame-ass vamps?"

"We don’t- I do." Buffy sighed as she rose up and shook her head. "These vamps nearly creamed me. I don’t want to risk you all getting killed too." Buffy gave another sigh as she glanced down at the small coffee table and stared at Jay’s dagger-like stake. "Besides, I still have to deal with Jay. And I have a feeling that if I bump into Jay again, I’ll bump into these vamps."

"So you’re going to go in armed with weapons, which is good, but it’ll be three against one," argued Giles, "Buffy do you realize how dangerous that’ll be?"

Buffy gave a little smirk. "Who said I was going alone? I’ll bring Spike along with me, just in case I need backup."

"So you’ll bring Spike along on a mission, but not us," replied Xander, giving Buffy a hurt looked. "Spike, being the guy who was obsessed with killing you for several years, and us being your best and closest friends."

"Spike, being a creepy vampire, who I don’t care gets beaten into oblivion," replied Buffy reassuringly. "I don’t want you guys getting killed over something Spike could do."

Xander gave a little nod and let it passed.

"But," said Buffy, standing up and grabbing Jay’s stake, "if any of you bump into Jay, and there’s more than one of you-" Buffy quickly stole a glanced towards Xander who, for a third time, sunk lower in his seat "-I suggest going after Jay."

Xander gave a little smirk, realizing there was something he could do now, though Anya and Giles really weren’t too eager to bump into the half-vampire.

"Uh, Buffy," said Giles, "I’m still somewhat shady on the details of how you’ll be finding this Jay."

"I have an informant," insured Buffy. "Isis."

"And you were home yesterday because you were ill?" asked Jerrold’s teacher, Mr. Wilson, as he loomed over Jerrold in his seat the next day.

"Yeah," replied Jerrold dryly.

"And you failed to contact anyone because…?"

"Well, I was sick," answered Jerrold, in a pointing-out-the-obvious sort of way. "I couldn’t call anyone cause I was sick, with a scratchy throat, plus I was sleeping most of the day and all that."

"…And you got in a fight as well?" Mr. Wilson asked curiously.

Jerrold gave a nervous smirk and said, "Well, I went out to get some milk- because that’s something good to drink when you’re sick, I think- and a bumped into an old "friend" of mine- Jay. Yeah, Jay. But then my friend Damien helped me out with this friend and brought me back to my flat house. He and I, apparently, go way back." Jerrold gave a wide grin as his teacher rolled his eyes and walked away.

As Mr. Wilson walked away, Jerrold released a little sigh of relief, and glanced at Isis, who was rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "Smooth," she whispered.

"Always try," murmured Jerrold.

"Now students, on Tuesday of next week, it will be the last day of classes," said Mr. Wilson, walking to his desk and picking up a load of papers. "So, this will be the first of three final tests of this summer, and then can all go away and fail in high school."

"Ugh," all the kids groaned.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mr. W," muttered Dominique, and several other of the kids chuckled with amusement.

"Now, this test will include everything we’ve learned up till now," said Jerrold’s teacher, as he paced up and down the isles of students, who were trapped in this summer school. The teacher kept on eyeing Jerrold, Isis, and Dominique, with that look of suspicion, like he knew they were up to something.

As Mr. Wilson placed a test on Isis’s table, she gave a loving smirk and replied, "What’s wrong Mr. Wilson? Afraid we’re gonna fail?"

"The class, I have confidence in," replied Mr. Wilson, walking passed Isis and placing a test on Jerrold’s desk, "just not in several of you in particular." Jerrold, Isis, and Dominique all knew that he was referring to them, as well as several other students.

"Gee," began Jerrold.

"Thanks," finished Dominique. She glanced back from her seat and looked at Jerrold, giving him a warm, loving smile.

Isis raised an eyebrow and glanced at Jerrold and then at Dominique. She muttered to herself, "Yeah, right. If them two don’t like each other, then I’m just a regular old human."

* * * *

Surprised with himself that he knew a majority of the stuff that was on the test, Jerrold was idly completing the test. Unfortunately, Sabrina Alexis, who sat directly in front of Jerrold, was not as well prepared. But, she had a nice, little, portable hand mirror, which she often glanced at to check answers on Jerrold’s test.

Though Jerrold was completely unaware of what was going on with the cheating, he felt a small chill up his spine as he felt the presence of something unnatural, but strangely familiar, in the room.

He figured it was probably Isis, staring at him, as she so often did. At first Jerrold thought it was because she liked him and had a crush on him or something, but the was way back when he had moved back into Sunnydale and first met her. That was before he had discovered she was a deadly metamorphic demon. Now Jerrold had a feeling that when she was glaring at him, she seemed to be plotting his death or a way to harm him, because even though she helped him, it was obvious a majority of these missions she sent him on were on the verge of suicidal. Maybe she just wanted to see if these missions would kill him.

But as he glanced over towards Isis out of the corner of his eyes, he saw her furiously going at her exam.

As his eyes moved back towards his paper, it was then that Jerrold noticed Sabrina and her mirror. Her mirror was a little off and the reflection caught the glimpse of Sabrina’s face, which would reflect Jerrold’s face back at her, revealing that he had seen her cheating. But as she stared into the mirror, she released a blood-chilling scream, as Jerrold gave a confused look and realized that he had vamped out in the middle of the class. He swiftly stood up and moved away from the window, turning his back, and waiting for Sabrina to stop screaming.

Isis, Dominique, Mr. Wilson, and the rest of the class swiveled around in their seats, staring at Sabrina and Jerrold, wondering what was going on. Sabrina finally managed to stop screaming.

"Mr. Irvine Smith, Ms. Alexis? Are you two all right?" Mr. Wilson asked curiously, as Sabrina began to start hyperventilating.

"I’m fine," replied Jerrold darkly, still keeping his back turned.

"Then would you mind returning to your seat?" requested the teacher.

Jerrold took a deep breath and turned away, with his human face on. He gave a nervous smile and headed for his seat.

Isis eyed Jerrold for a moment as he began to sit down, and as she did her eyes wandered passed Jerrold and Sabrina, and towards the window, where she saw a gray, leathery, beast-like figure rush away.

Chapter Four

"So, what exactly happened back there Jay?" asked Isis, as she and Jerrold exited their old junior high school. "I mean the whole jumping out of your seat thing, kinda going a little overboard there Jay."

"Jerrold," corrected the half-human as they headed towards the bus stop.

Isis rolled her eyes. "Jay, Jerrold, it’s all the same in the end." She sped up and stopped in front of Jay. "Now tell me exactly what happened- and I’ll tell you something you might find interesting."

Jerrold sighed and quickly explained how he had randomly vamped out in the middle of class, and how Sabrina apparently saw him in her mirror.

"Yea," agreed Isis. "After class, I heard Sabrina talking to acouple of her friends about how the strange kid who sat being her disappeared into thin air. It’s so sad, I don’t think she even knows your name." Isis groaned and rolled her eyes. "So young, and so naïve." Isis sighed. "It’s gonna be hell going to Hawthorne with her in San Francisco."

"Was that the part I was suppose to find interesting?" Jerrold dryly asked.

"Oh, no, not that." Isis gave a brilliant smile. "Guess what I saw scampering away while you were sitting back down?" Isis hesitated for a moment as Jerrold stared at her and crossed him arms. ""Kay, I guess you’re not big on the guessing games," muttered Isis. "It was that big, gray, boary from last night. Ya know, that thing you killed."

Jerrold’s eyes widened in horror. "The Drokken?"

"Yeah, Drokken," answered Isis. "Does that mean anything to you, because I’m drawing up a blank."

"The Drokken, from last night, it was able to manipulate presence," explained Jerrold slowly, "making be change from human to vampire at its own will."

"Think it’s the same one?" questioned Isis.

Jerrold stared at her for a moment. "Most likely. It said it was from an unruly dimension, so I doubt more will be coming." Jerrold stare quickly turned into a dark glare.

"…What?"

"Why do you care?" asked Jerrold.

"About you, I don’t," replied Isis, pointing at herself. "This is just for my own safety. Don’t get too overexcited, Jay." Isis gave a little wave and a wink and walked off.

Jerrold groaned as he checked his watch. Three and a half more hours until sundown, which gave Jerrold acouple of hours to do homework and prepare for hunting down the strange psychic vampire that had attacked him last night. Of course, there was a serious chance that he was gonna get his ass kicked, but after fighting the Slayer last night, he was sure there wasn’t anymore ass kicked he could get.

As he headed towards his bus stop, he groaned as he saw his bus approaching.

"Great," muttered Jerrold, starting up into a run. "I can fight monstrous, hellish, demons, kick some ass in the doing as well, and vamp out if I choose to- well, most of the time anyways- but I can never catch this stupid bus." Jerrold broke out into a speedy run, as he saw the bus slowing down. But worst of all, there was a huge crowd of people from his school waiting at the stop.

But Jerrold’s eyes locked onto the bus driver’s eyes, and the guy gave a little chuckle and the bus started to speed up. All the kids roared with anger as the bus stopped several feet in front of Jerrold.

The half-human gave a happy grin and rushed towards the bus and hopped onboard. There were shouts of anger and annoyance as the other kids went into a mad rush to catch up to the bus as Jerrold idly stepped onboard.

As Jerrold paid the fee and walked towards the back of the bus and sat down, a herd of teens rushed onto the bus, quickly filling up every inch of space on the bus until the driver closed the door on an unaware victim and drove off.

Jerrold gave a little chuckle and replied, "Well, at least this day hasn’t been a total drag." He quickly frowned as he noticed Isis, also onboard the bus.

* * * *

Spike was not enjoying his life in Sunnydale all that much. When he had first arrived in town, he had hoped that he and his sire, Drusilla, would reign a happily bloody life in the hellish town of Sunnydale. Unfortunately, Miss Buffy the Vampire Slayer had other plans and kicked their asses as soon as they arrived in Sunnydale, and they went into hiding for a while. And then, when Spike and Dru returned and they had Angelus (the vampire with a soul without his soul) on their side, Spike ended up helping Buffy, due to the fact that Dru and Angelus were going at it every minute of the day and night.

Spike returned briefly, in search of Willow to cast a love spell on Dru, who had dumped him for a chaos-demon. Unfortunately, the little witch never got around to finishing the spell, but he had a heck of a time, fighting with Buffy and Angel. So, Spike concluded he’d get back Dru the old-fashion way: with torture and chains.

Then, when Spike returned to Sunnydale in search of the Gem of Amara, without Drusilla, who had cheated on him, but with Harmony. But still he got his ass kicked by Buffy. He ended up fleeing to LA to recover his gem from Angel, who now had possession of it, and got his ass kicked by Angel, the vampire with a soul. And this was in fact the same Angel who would have been feasting with him years before if it hadn’t been for Buffy and the fact that he and Dru were going at it, when she should have been with him.

Then, gaining enough strength to return to the hellhole (or Hellmouth) of a town, Spike came back, only to get his pretty little head cut up and a chip shoved into his brain. This chip prevented him from harming humans, as well as a soul-wearing vamp, Angel, but, luckily, it never activated when it came to dealing with other demons. And when Spike went to Giles and Buffy with information, he ended up getting tied up for several months (though he did end up having a moderately nice Thanksgiving with them- you know, minus the arrow shooting). And when they let him go, he was just used as a tool by Buffy and friends.

So, Spike truly disliked his time in the Hellmouth. But where would he go? At least he had his crypt.

But unfortunately, Buffy knew where that crypt was, and, on a nice day like today, she often times would pop in and pummeled the hell out of him, in order to get some information.

And that’s what she did that day.

Spike, who was having an enjoyable dream about kicking around Buffy- which he seemed to keep on having for the last several days- was rudely awakened by a beam of sunlight that shot through his door

"Ah!" cried Spike in horror as he leaped up from his couch, which Isis had dragged him to the night before, and rushed away from the sunlight, before he exploded in fire. In the glow of the deadly sun stood the, ever-so-annoying, Vampire Slayer. "Well, well, Buffy. Come to greet ol’ Spike with a torching, have we?"

"Not yet," replied Buffy, slowly walking down from the doorway, making her way towards Spike. And as Spike dusted himself off and began to stand up, Buffy quickly lunged at the vampire, pinning him against the wall. "But trust me Spike, my patience is running. So, if you don’t want to be a pile of dust in front of the beaming sunlight, you’ll listen to what I have to say, got it?"

"Fine, fine," muttered Spike, pushing the Slayer off of him. "What’d ya want this time Slayer?"

"You remember Jay right? Short, half-vamp, annoying little pest," replied Buffy.

"Oh yeah, you mean the vamp that kicked your ass acouple nights back," said Spike, as a wide grin spread across his face. "And, just a lil guess, did the lil vamp kick your ass again last night-"

"No," growled Buffy sternly, as she pressed Spike against the wall again. "Though a small herd of asanbosam vampires appeared and a psychic vampire kicked attacked."

"Asanbosam vampires?" cried Spike, slightly startled. "Sickles and all?"

"Yeah," muttered Buffy, "though not too hard to stake. The psychic vampire though… well, she kicked my ass." Buffy sighed as she stepped back, releasing Spike from her hold. "There’s a likely chance that we’ll run into all of them tonight."

"Tonight?" repeated Spike. "What’s tonight?"

"…I dunno," admitted Buffy. "But it has something to do with Kali and Jay."

Spike sighed and repeated, "Kali?" But before Buffy could answer, Spike quickly interrupted and in a startled voice he growled, "We? Did you say we? There will be no we!" Spike crossed his arms and turned around. "I’ll have nothing off it. Do you know how asanbosam vampires are to us regular vampires? One slice through the neck and we’re dust. You… well, you’re just dead when that happens to ya. And psychic vampires, well…"

"If you don’t come with me tonight," growled Buffy, "well, remember the pile o’ dust I was talking about before." Buffy gave a warm, wide, and utterly fake smile, as she shoved Spike against the wall and swiveled around and walked out of the door.

"Jerrold!" The vampire groaned with annoyance as Isis spotted Jerrold on the bus and rushed towards him, taking a seat in front of him. "Hey, why didn’t you say anything when I came on?"

"I was hoping you’d leave," muttered Jerrold, turning his head towards the window, still hoping that Isis would go away.

"Well I’m hurt Jerrold, I really am," replied Isis, turning away.

"Ah yes," murmured Jerrold, "you hurt. Did someone send a Slayer after you last night, Isis? No wait, it was you, I believe who sent a Slayer after me!" Jerrold cleared his throat and waited for Isis to turn back again.

With a nervous grin on her face, Isis turned around and shrugged. "I haven’t the slightest clue why ol’ Buff went after ya- yeah, okay, I told her where you were." Isis sighed and began sniveling and "sobbing" as she covered her face and turned away. "I tried… but she offered me money. And I need money, and-"

"I get it, she was just another informant," replied Jerrold with a shrug. "Speaking of being an informant, do you have any information on the psychic vamp who hurled me across town last night."

An amused smirk covered Isis’s face and she gave a little nod. "Heh, yeah." She quickly cleared her throat and continued, "But, I dunno what who she is and how’s she connected with Damien and those other vampires from last night." Isis peered out of one of the windows and got up. "Just head to the cemetery and you’ll find what you’ll need to find. Gotta run."

Jerrold snapped his fingers and replied, "Damn, oh well. See ya Isis."

The metamorphic demon let out a little grin as she stepped off of the bus. "I know what you’re thinking. ‘Gee, thank you Isis for the helpful information. You’re the prettiest metamorphic demon I’ve ever known’ and I, of course, realize that strange look on your face is one of love, oppose to annoyance."

"Yeah… right," muttered Jerrold sarcastically as Isis finally left. He gave a little sigh of relief as he quickly realized that he would be in for a big battle tonight; tougher than the Slayer. One that he’d have to ready for and be prepared for-

"Ugh!" Jerrold jumped and gave a little cry as the homeless man in front of the half-human groaned and grumbled and rose up from his seat. "Pretty little lady you got there. Too bad about that whole demon thing."

Jerrold gave an agreeing little nod and replied, "Yeah, too bad."

* * * *

"Isis…" The metamorphic demon quickly jumped up from her bed, for she had been sleeping and when she slept or when she fell unconscious she would revert to her pale, gray, demonic form and she didn’t want her mom walking in on her in her darker form. She swiftly transformed into Isis, her human form, and rushed to the door and opened it, revealing her mother and a familiar blonde.

"Mom," said Isis, giving her a warm smile, and then turned to the blonde and nodded. "And Buffy, how are ya?"

"Uh, your friend Buffy said that she’s tutoring you for school," murmured Isis’s mom, eyeing her for a moment, "though I’m rather concerned you need all this help, even now that you’re in summer school."

"Heh, mom," replied Isis, with a nervous smirk across her pissed off face, "you know I’m just trying to prepare before we make out move over to Hawthorne. You know preparation and all that right? I don’t wanna fail- or, at least, not again anyways."

"How long will these preparations take?" asked Isis’s mom, glancing towards Buffy for an answer.

"Oh, not long I’m sure," said Isis, attempting to sidetrack her.

"Late unfortunately- really, all night I’m afraid," answered Buffy, staring at Isis, making sure not to let a grin slip her face. "Have to be prepared, right Isis?"

"Heh, late… heh, all night," chuckled Isis. See, this is what I get for allying myself with a Slayer. Should’ve killed her when I had the chance. "I’m ready to go when you are. All the stuff’s at your house, right?"

"Right." Buffy nodded. "Ready when you are."

"Okay. Let’s go," replied Isis, trying to have initiative in the whole phony act, to convince her mother nothing was going on. "I’m rearing to go," she mumbled as she stepped out of her room to follow Buffy. "Gun-ho."

As Buffy and Isis headed out of Isis’s room, her mom grabbed Isis by the arm, and in a low voice Isis’s mother said, "Isis, next time you have to meet something like this, about your school work, inform me first. Do you understand young lady?"

Ouch! The young lady routine, thought Isis sourly. "Yeah mom, I promise." She gave a soulful smirk and followed after the Slayer.

As Buffy and Isis exited the metamorphic demon’s home, Isis waved good-bye to her human persona’s mother, and as the door closed shut, Isis muttered under her breath, "Young lady this." Buffy didn’t hear her and she was unaware of the finger that was pointing towards the door. She swiveled around and asked Buffy, "Where to, Slayer?"

"Actually, that’s what I want to know," growled Buffy. "Where’s our little vampire going tonight?"

"Jay?" Isis gave a little smirk. Everything was falling together into place. "He’ll be in the same cemetery as last night, waiting for ya."

"Great, save me the trouble of looking for him," growled Buffy, heading out.

"Well, if that’s all," said Isis turning back around towards her door, "I’ll just be heading back hom-"

"You’ll be needed as well," interrupted the Slayer, as a smirk spread across her face. "Your metamorphic abilities will come in handy."

Isis glared at Buffy for a moment, crossing her arms. "And if I choose to not comply?"

"My friend Anya told me metamorphic demons such as yourself. You all die if your heads get chopped off, no mater what form you’re in." Buffy knew she had hit the spot when she revealed that she knew how to kill this demon. And even though she was an informant, Isis was inevitably a demon, a somewhat deadly one. The only reason she hadn’t considered hunting down Isis just yet was the fact that she would prove useful when Buffy needed her.

"Oh… that." Isis cleared her threat and hurried down her steps. "Coming."

* * * *

Oh god, I must really think I’m gonna die, Jerrold thought to himself as he watched the sun set over a mountain. I mean, why else would I want to be studying material I wasn’t assigned.

Jerrold sat eagerly at his desk, reviewing some of the material for the following test on Monday and on Tuesday, while he mentally prepared himself to face off against the psychic vampire once again.

He had already assembled a majority of his weapons, including stakes, a small cross around his neck, holy water, a dagger (hidden in his shoe), an axe, and a pole (or what he had before considered a very, skinny "staff").

As Jerrold moved from his schoolwork and his computer (his desk had his computer on it as well) towards his window, he leaned against the small table that rested by the windowsill. The nearby mountain seemed to rise as the sunset behind it, creating an illusive shadow all across Sunnydale, giving the sign for vampires and all the rest of the nightly demons to come forth and reign havoc upon the Hellmouth.

But I have my own mission for now, Jerrold thought to himself, as he momentarily vamped out, as he watched the remaining light from the sun begin to fade away into darkness. "And it’s time I set to it."

Bzzzzzz!

"Ah!" A startled Jay jumped up as his loud doorbell buzzed rang through that half-vampire’s tiny flat. Quickly reverting back to his human side, Jerrold rushed down the stairs to figure out who it was, and was surprised to find someone in a dark suit with a briefcase.

A lawyer was the first thing that had popped into Jerrold’s head. He figured that Jennifer and Kyle, the young couple that lived beneath him who were suppose to be watching him, had called to complain about the fight from the other night, or it was one of the neighbors, who were not all too fond on Jerrold and his nightly ventures.

But it was proved wrong.

"Are you Jerrold Irvine Smith?" the man asked with a deep voice.

"What’s it to you?" replied Jerrold sternly, trying to figure out who this guy was.

"I am Mr. Robinson," the man introduced.

"And you are with…?" Jerrold asked.

"Social Services," the man answered.

"…Oh." Jerrold quickly froze up, realizing that he was suppose to have people living with him, even though Jennifer and Kyle gave the half-vampire his space upstairs in the upper flat. "Well, if this is about my living arrangement, Jennifer and Kyle are just out. This flat is kinda like… ya know, my own, personal, really, really big room." Jerrold gave a convincing nod and replied, "Yeah, really big room."

"Uh, I had some information about the Turners," Mr. Robinson said slowly.

"Turners?" repeated Jerrold slowly. "Is that Jennifer and Kyle’s new last names or something…"

The worker raised his eyebrows and explained, "The Turners are the family you’ll be living with in LA as soon as you finish your classes here in Sunnydale."

"Oh," murmured Jerrold, "the new family…. Great…." He sighed. Jerrold Irvine Turner-Smith… kinda has a ring to it. "Thanks a lot Mr. Robinson, nice meeting ya."

"You too, and I hope we meet again." Before Mr. Robinson could even begin to hold out his hand, Jerrold groaned and shut the door in front of Mr. Robinson’s face and quickly headed back up the stairs to prepare for tonight. It would be hell.

"Kali, Damien, come forth."

The two vampires nodded and stepped forth from the mass of various vampires that followed Lohesh’s order, for Lohesh was the soul survivor of his species and was considered to have great importance for the futures of various demons, mainly surrounding these vampires. That was why all these vampires had come to him when he had needed allies. Kali was the first, which was why he had chosen her as his second in command.

"What is it that you request?" Kali and Damien murmured in unison.

Lohesh gave a little smirk as he spread his four, large, leathery wings and held his sword up high. They were in a small secret area beneath one of Sunnydale’s numerous cemeteries that Lohesh had claimed as his own, and all the vampires merely followed him in. And now, Lohesh had dozens of followers, not only here in Sunnydale, but throughout California and through the demonic hot spots throughout the world.

"If all goes as planned, we will have the Doomed Vampire here tonight," explained Lohesh, glancing not only at those two, but also at the various other vampires that served him. "But there was a setback that I hadn’t anticipated: The Slayer."

"Ah yes, the Slayer," muttered Damien, shaking his head, "always a pest. As well as her friend, Spike, the vampire who had been experimented on by those government scientists-"

"They will not pose a threat tonight," Kali quickly interrupted.

Damien stole a quick glare at Kali and replied, "And how can we be sure of that?"

Kali glanced at Damien and flashed a quick grin. "I have my asanbosam vampires at my side and besides, it’s not always bad to have a Slayer around." Kali quickly swiveled around and kicked at nearby vampire, sending him soaring up towards the ceiling and he fell towards the entrance of the cave on the other side of the room. "Especially when she lets you have a little bite."

Lohesh nodded. "You drained her?"

Kali flashed another grin and she replied, "Just a little bit. And besides, the Doomed Vampire and the Slayer aren’t exactly allies. If we don’t kill them, they’ll kill each other."

Chapter Five

"Ah, lovely night sky," murmured Isis, as she and Buffy stepped onto the ground of the cemetery. "It’s filled with darkness… despair… possibly death…" Isis glanced at Buffy for a moment and asked, "Any other words that start with ‘d’ that you can think of?"

"Doom," muttered Buffy, as the Slayer and the metamorphic demon began their search for the half-vampire.

Isis stopped and shook her head. "Doom? Hey, now that’s just a little too negative there." Seeing that Buffy wasn’t too fond of Isis’s jokes, the demon groaned and quickly chased after Buffy who had simply continued walking, not stopping to listen to Isis. "Geesh, Slayers nowadays. No humor."

Isis followed behind Buffy as they stealthily moved through the ever-so-quiet cemetery. But that was the problem: It was too quiet. No one appeared to be there. There were no fresh graves, so no one was too rise, and apparently the couples of Sunnydale had realized that the cemetery was not the hit make-out spot anymore. But then again, Isis was pretty sure that the couples would be back in a week or two, because that’s just your usual, naïve, Sunnydale couple for you.

But still, the vampires usually hung out around the graves because it gave them a sense of homeliness. This seemed to make sense, because technically what was wandering the streets were the demons that killed these, mostly innocent, people and was now using their personalities, memories, and thoughts were born (or reborn) within these very graves that Isis and Buffy passed by.

"Anyone else drawin’ up a big pile of nothing," murmured a familiar voice as a shadowy, white-hair, figure appeared from behind a tree, holding his hand up to his mouth, blocking the wind of the night sky from blowing out the flame from his lighter.

"Well Spike, took you long enough," muttered Buffy, as she approached Spike.

As the Slayer approached the "harmless" vampire, Spike winced and stepped back, giving a low growl as he noticed a cross hanging around Isis’s neck, and darkly replied, "What’s with the crosses love?"

"Psychic vamps equal de-fanged with crosses around," explained Isis. The metamorphic demon shrugged as she replied, "Course, if we never find Jerrold, no need for crosses…"

"Except to bug dear old Spike," replied Buffy with a grin, as she pulled out her cross, slowly drawing it closer and closer to Spike, who kept snarling and growling, stepping away from it. "Did you find Jay or any of the other vamps wandering about?"

"Sorry Slayer," replied Spike firmly, as Buffy put her cross away, "it’s pretty much dead tonight."

"In the not vampire way?" asked Isis slowly.

"Right you are lil one," replied Spike with a nod. "Jay hasn’t showed up yet, so I bet he won’t be appearing tonight." Spike stole a brief glance at Isis, before Buffy slammed Spike against the tree he had backed up towards, forcing him to give a little grunt and to drop his cigarette.

"Hey!" protested Isis in anger, quickly coming to Spike’s aid, as well as to her own defense. "I told Jay to come here tonight!"

"Yeah!" agreed Spike in anger. "I was wrong. So lay off!"

"Spike," growled Buffy, pressing the vampire against the tree, "if you’re keeping anything from me, or if I can’t find Jay because you are here hiding something, I will kill you." Buffy let go of Spike and turned around towards Isis.

"Oh, kill me, I’m scared," muttered Spike under his breath.

"Isis," said Buffy slowly, "is there any thing that we might be able to use from last night to track down where Jay might be now, or where these vamps might be hiding."

Isis took a moment to think, and quickly revealed a devilish grin as she gave a little nod. "Actually there might be something I can do." Isis closed her eyes and reverted back to her thin, pale, natural demonic state and glanced up at Buffy. "When I bite victims I absorb their memories and such."

"Like a vampire," murmured Buffy darkly.

"Except I’m not taking over their bodies," explained Isis, attempting to hide her smirk of satisfaction. "Just killing ’em." Isis began to focus and transformed into a blond female, slightly around the same size as Isis’s human form, but something about her seemed different.

"A vampire from the other night," said Buffy.

"It’ll take acouple of seconds to tap into her memories," murmured Isis, closing her eyes. "Tami- this vampire- has a very mass and complex mind. Apparently very old and stuff. This may take awhile-"

"Look over there," ordered Spike quickly, pointing to several far off trees.

Buffy glanced over her shoulder and shook her head in annoyance. She was about to reply how lame Spike was acting when Isis grabbed her shoulder and swiveled her around.

All three saw a gray creature rush across the cemetery.

"Or when worse comes to worse," muttered Buffy, quickly pulling out Jay’s stake, and glancing back at Spike and Isis, "you can always rely on that demon you killed the other night to find what you’re looking for."

Spike snorted and shrugged. "Yeah. And to think, they’re the tough-ones to kill. How’ll you take out the lil vamp, eh?"

Buffy shot a dark glance at Spike, who simply shrugged and backed away. Though she was, as usual, pissed off at Spike, that thought had coursed through her mind. How will I stop Jay, that psychic vampire, and those asanbosam vamps at once? Even with Spike and Isis’s help, it may not be enough… "We’ll get to that when we need to. Let’s move."

* * * *

Jerrold slowly crept in one of Sunnydale’s various cemeteries, which spread throughout the small southern Californian town. There were probably all these cemeteries because of the Hellmouth in Sunnydale, and they needed places to put the bodies. But with the Slayer in town, the bodies had seemed to lessen a little bit. It was so unfortunate, however, that tonight, in this slightly dark and beautiful cemetery, that the Doomed Vampire would be facing off what appeared to be a psychic vampire, a possibly zombie-Drokken, and various other vampires who were with them.

The half-vampire would have made it to the cemetery earlier if both Dominique and Sabrina hadn’t called him when he was trying to leave. Dominique was calling about what to study for the test, which quickly lead into where their relationship should be going after the summer. Jerrold had to leave her hanging because he really needed to go. Then Sabrina called because she wanted to apologize for freaking out in class, as well as cheating off of him, and she was sure that her mirror was just off center. Jerrold didn’t really care, and quickly rushed her in order to leave.

As he was walking down the stairs of his flat, he heard the phone begin to ring again, but he simply ignored it and decided to head out. He went straight to Isis’s house first to see if she’d come with him tonight, but he was shocked to hear that Isis was with a tutor, studying for the big exams next week.

So, after wasting all that time heading over to Isis’s, Jerrold quickly rushed to the cemetery in hope that whatever vampires and demons were after him weren’t loose upon Sunnydale yet.

And the only thing that could make things worse now was Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. And something in the pit of his stomach warned him that Buffy wasn’t too far off.

But after several steps into the cemetery, Buffy wasn’t the thing on his mind.

The half-vampire froze in horror as a strange, gray, creature, dashed towards Jerrold in a terrifying frenzy, and slowed down several feet ahead of him. As the leathery creature stopped in front of Jerrold, the Doomed Vampire took a moment to take in what he saw in front of him.

The exact same demonic creature from the previous night was alive and standing right in front of the half-vampire, snarling, growling, and drooling, just as it did the other. And, just as it had the another, there was a large hole from Jerrold’s axe, which still dripped blood, meaning that it was probably still alive.

It hadn’t been reanimated as zombie, it had been brought back completely, and totally alive.

"Jay," the creature growled darkly. "Great. I get to skip the dull search for you and get right to the mauling."

"Great line," muttered Jerrold, as he slowly made his way towards the revived Drokken. "What happen? You Drokken-types don’t die or something?"

"My Master found me vitally important to your destruction," the Drokken growled, as he slowly stepped towards the half-vampire. "So important that he figured he could bring me back."

"Funny," murmured Jerrold slowly, "if I killed you once-" Jerrold lowered his head, looking towards the ground, and as he rose it back up, he revealed the hideous, demonic face of Jay "-what’s stopping me from killing you again?"

"That’d be me."

Jay glanced around at the virtually empty cemetery, only to see the Drokken in front of him, and darkness throughout the rest of the scenery. It wasn’t until the vampire lunged off of the top of the mausoleum that the half-vamp noticed her. She landed in front of the Drokken, in midair, hovering from some sort of magicks- or some sort of telekinesis or psychic energy.

"You," growled Jay, hoping to intimidate what appeared to be an extremely powerful foe. "From last night."

"Yeah me, that chick that hurled you across half of Sunnydale the other night," replied the psychic vampire with a smirk. "Yeah, that was me. Fun times, fun times." The sly grin quietly slipped into a demonic vampiric grin as the vampire’s face turned and she lightly shook it off. "Time to finish this." The psychic vampire held up her hand and snapped her fingers and suddenly, the five asanbosam vampires from the night before appeared from out of the silence of Sunnydale’s cemetery. The psychic vampire clutched her eyes shut and quickly used her psychic abilities to send Jay’s pole and axe flying out of his hands, crashing to the ground, way to far out of reach.

Jay quickly spun around and the psychic vampire stood several inches away from his face, and quickly grabbed the Doomed Vampire’s throat and tossed him to the ground, cackling as she did.

"Now…" The psychic vampire closed her eyes and shook out her hair, letting it down and quickly vamping out. "It’s time to let the fun begin."

* * * *

It was only several seconds afterwards that Buffy, Isis, and Spike ended up losing the revived Drokken beast, leaving the three of them with no trail to follow. The only real hope they still had was Isis’s idea of trying to find the entrance to wherever the Drokken had originated from and where the other vampires probably were.

Of course, it wouldn’t be all that helpful if the vamps were all outside and Buffy and the two demons were stuck underground.

"You know ladies, I’m truly beginning to suspect that it’s not our night tonight," murmured Spike, as he glanced around for anything that could lead them to the Drokken. "Anyone else thinking we should just hit the sack?"

"I’m in for it," chimed in Isis immediate, but she quickly quieted down with a glare from Buffy. "Course, we have to find Jay tonight before he does something… bad." Right, like the half-vampire would ever do anything like that, Isis thought to herself. Suppose even Slayers can be somewhat naïve. Isis sighed and pointed ahead. "You know these hell-beasties, they usually head in the same direction: forward."

"Course, it’s one of those demon-dimensional hell-beasties," muttered Spike. "Who knows which way they’ll be runnin’." Spike hesitated for a moment, vamped out, and quickly stopped the two girls before moving forward. "But then again, those typical demons ruin it all for the rest of us."

"Well, well. Spike and the Slayer together again." Buffy, Isis, and Spike all swiveled around and there stood Damien and several of the other vampires from the other night. "Attempting to take our little vamp hostage?"

"Spike?" Buffy asked slowly.

Damien nudged his head towards Isis, who was disguised as one of the vampires from the previous night. Not many of the other vampires were around when Isis had drained the vampire of its energy and life, so they weren’t aware that the vampire they had with them was really a metamorphic demon. They simply thought that they had captured Tami, the vampire.

"She’s with us," replied Spike, giving a low growl and slowly stepping towards the younger vampire.

"Trying to snuff us out, I’m guessing," replied Damien with a twisted grin. Damien glanced back at Spike and locked his eyes onto Isis, and slowly shook his head. "Tami, Tami, Tami… And you were just going to lead them to us. Tsk, tsk." Damien waved his finger and quickly vamped out. "Wasn’t very smart. Especially if our Lohesh hears of this."

"And how will he hear," replied Isis sharply, "if we’re all dead before hand."

"Cause," answered Damien, "he’ll be here in less than an hour."

* * * *

"So, what exactly are you calling yourself these days, Jay," asked the psychic vampire, as she slowly paced towards the half-vampire, as he managed to pull himself up. She wore an amused smirk across her twisted, demonic face, which concealed her deadly teeth. "Jerrold Irvine Smith is it?" She gave a little cackle and quickly dashed towards Jay, using her vampiric speed, and lifted him up by his shirt. "What? Your scientist creators named ya that? Initiative, right?" The psychic vampire’s eyes began to glow, and when the glowing stopped, it revealed the same black eyes from before, and sent a powerful, invisible force straight towards Jay and sent him soaring towards a nearby tree, knocking it over. "Well?"

"Well," murmured Jay, as he gave a little groan and arose from the fallen tree. "Apparently, you seem to know a lot about me… yet I don’t know anything about you."

"You have to get your facts straight when your boss has you tailing a dangerous vampire, who’s also a vampire killer," replied the psychic with a low growl, as she quickly started towards Jay. "I mean, Jay, the infamous Doomed Vampire. Hell, you’re more mythical than the two Slayers or the vampire with a soul."

"Goody for me," murmured Jay darkly. "So, what’s your boss want with me anyways? Just another threat ridden from vampiric society?" As the psychic vampire came in to attack Jay, the half-vampire quickly took a little step back and swiftly lung forward and kicked the psychic vampire in the side, sending her flying forward.

The female vampire landed with a loud thud, but unlike Jay, she swiftly rose back up without any problem. The Doomed Vampire was apparently still feeling a little of the fight between him and the Slayer the night before. He wouldn’t be at full strength for awhile after facing her, and from the strength this vampire was packing, he had a feeling she might have drained a little of Buffy.

"A meager threat? Jerrold, I’m disappointed in you." The psychic vampire closed her eyes and slowly shook her head. "To think of yourself as just a ‘threat’ my friend? Low self-esteem."

"Funny," replied Jay, as he quickly jumped over the log and glanced around for his weapons. His axe had been hurled off elsewhere while his pole was in two at the foot of a tree. "And what might your name be, friend?"

"Kali," the psychic vampire answered, "second in command of Lohesh’s troops." Her grin widened as Jay searched around for a weapon to use. "I wouldn’t let your guard down, Jay."

Jay quickly froze and glanced around and slowly locked his gaze on one of the broken pieces of his pole, which had begun to levitate. Before the half-vampire knew it, the pole and soared through the air headed straight for his heart. Luckily the Doomed Vampire had managed to react quick enough and caught the pole before it had gone straight through him, only grazing his skin.

Jay then quickly swiveled around just in time as the other pole painful impaled him…

"Listen, Damien, right?" Buffy gave her causal, phony smile and walked towards Damien, who she then backed away from when she smelled his hot, bad, breath. "What’s your deal?"

Damien hesitated for a moment and stared at Buffy for a moment, and gave a nervous chuckle. "What?"

"Did I stutter or something?" Buffy rolled her eyes and put her hands on her hips. "What is your deal? Your problem."

"What’d you mean?" Damien asked slowly.

"Waltzing into Sunnydale, with all your other vamps, thinking you’re the new big-bad," explained Buffy, shaking her head. "I mean, I’ve faced a lot worse than a herd of vampires. I’ve faced the Master, Spike and Drusilla, Angel, Sunnydale High, Faith, Mr. Trick, the Mayor, Snyder, and a long list of other badies." Buffy nudged her head towards Spike. "And this vamp behind me was one of those big bads."

"I believe, what the Slayer is trying to say," replied Spike, who for the first time tonight, had an entertained grin on his face, "is that you, and your nancy-boy band of vampires, aren’t going to last too long in Sunnydale, mate."

Damien’s gaze shot passed Spike and Buffy and noticed Isis, who he at that moment believed to be Tami. Her gaze was locked onto Spike and Buffy and a satisfied grin spread across her face and she quickly turned to Damien and gave a little nod.

Damien didn’t want to give an agreeing nod, in fear that the Slayer and Spike would catch onto the vampire’s plan. Instead, he gave a witty reply to Spike and Buffy’s comments.

"So sad and utterly self-centered you all are," muttered Damien, as Isis crept towards Spike and Buffy. "Always thinking things are all about you all. Your town, yourselves, your Hellmouth, all you, you, you."

"Then why are you here?" asked Buffy slowly, as Isis raised her fist up.

"Jay." Before Buffy or Spike could react, Isis quickly lifted up Spike and Buffy by the back of their shirts and tossed them, sending them flying towards the vampires.

Damien smiled and nodded at Isis. "Good work Tami."

"Just doin’ what I can," replied Isis, as she watched a stunned Slayer quickly become swarmed with vicious vampires…

Chapter Six

Kali began cackling as she did before, as she watched the wooden pole slice through the half-vampire, but the cackling instantly halted when she realized she had missed her target. Since Jay had turned around, his heart was on the opposite side of his chest, and has missed the heart, only leaving a Jay in a lot of pain, oppose to leaving Jay in a pile of dust.

Kali sighed as her eyes searched around the graveyard. "Well if I can’t stake you… might as well harm you a bit." Kali’s eyes locked onto Jay’s fallen axe and gave a grin as she began focusing her energy on the deadly weapon, levitating the axe up into the air. "Sorry Jay."

The psychic vampire lifted up the axe into the air and propelled the axe straight towards Jay’s chest.

As the axe was only several feet away from slicing through Jay, it seemed to hit some sort of barrier that reflected Kali’s psychic energy, and the axe bounced off the invisible wall and dropped to the ground.

"What!" shouted Kali angrily, as her head shot back in forth, looking for what had stopped the hurling axe.

"Tough luck Kali." Jay took a deep breath and pulled the broken pole out of his side, arming himself with two deadly stakes. The half-vampire then took out the cross that he wore around his neck, which reversed Kali’s abilities. "Sorry to have to stifle you in your moment of glory, but an axed-Jay is not a happy Jay."

Kali growled darkly as she closed her eyes and began to focus her psychic abilities. The psychic vampire sent a psychic force soaring towards Jay but as it was about to hit the half-vampire, the psychic force bounced off of Jay and went flying straight towards Kali, knocking her off her feet.

The psychic vampire went flying and landed in front of the herd of asanbosam vampires, gasping for breath and she managed to regain her strength to pull herself up. "Well that was… interesting."

"What’s wrong Kali?" asked Jay, as he slowly made his way towards her. "Were you really just talk all this time? You can’t take me without your powers?"

Kali continued to growl and snarl as she rose up and shook out her hair. "I could take you out easily, Jerrold," replied Kali, using the half-vampire’s human name to taunt the vampire within him. Calling vampires by their human names was a common insult, even for Jay from time to time. "But my boys are hungry. And if you make it through all this, our battle shall be fought elsewhere." Kali gave her final snarl and quickly swiveled around and rushed off into the darkness of the night, leaving the half-vampire with the five asanbosam vampires and the deadly Drokken.

"Well," murmured Jay, glancing around at all the demons swarming in towards him, "quite a party we have here. Fun, fun, fun…"

* * * *

"Slayer, Slayer, Slayer," taunted Damien, as he watched her lay on the ground, and as Isis slowly walked over and stood behind Damien. "You always underestimate us. You believe we are… ‘inferior’ is the word you would use, when it is us who are truly superior to you."

"How do you figure that?" asked Buffy, quickly realizing the betrayal that had occurred. "Considering I’m the one that kills your kind."

"We can kill without remorse, it gives us a sort of clarity and power," replied Damien slowly. "Something you could never truly understand. And it’s not just because you’re the infamous Vampire Slayer." Damien smirked and shook his head. "At least the other Slayers in their times had more potential than you. Moving around with your mortal, powerless, allies, putting them in danger, and from time to time making the wrong choice and putting the world in a deadly peril.

"But what you lack the most as the Slayer, is its essence," replied Damien, with another little chuckle. "You hold back, fearing that your darker nature will unleash, which could possibly be an unstoppable force, but no, you hold yourself back; you restrain yourself- you are your own weakness that holds back your inner strength."

"Like the other Slayer," murmured Isis, who stood behind Damien and the other vamps, "Faith. She was an unstoppable force throughout Sunnydale-"

"Course that was until I put her in a coma and she was locked up in LA," interrupted Buffy dryly, as she quickly began to rise up. Before Damien could take another step, Buffy moved at full speed towards the vampire and shoved Damien into the crowd of vampires, knocking them over. "So, just imagine what I’ll do to you."

As Damien rose up from the ground, his face had vamped out and he was snarling and growling, almost like an animal. Straining his voice, the vampire shouted, "Attack!"

The seven other vampires quickly regrouped and got on their feet, and swiftly moved in to attack Buffy. All seven of them, excluding Damien, all lunged at her and began to swarm the Vampire Slayer.

Suddenly, an "unconscious" Spike snapped open one eye and reared back his legs and quickly shot it out towards the nearest vampire, sending the vampire flying above Buffy and the crowd of vampires, and landing on the ground in front of Isis and Damien.

Damien, groaning from the Slayer’s deadly blow, slowly rose up and dusted off his clothes. "You know, Lohesh will come out eventually. Might as well just lay low until then." Damien turned to Isis and gave a little nod. "Tami, you’re in charge here, got it?"

Isis gave a silent, little nod, knowing that’s how the vampire Tami would act.

"If Lohesh asks, I was injured," replied Damien, as he turned away and began to rush away from Spike, Isis, and the Slayer.

Isis shook her head as she momentarily reverted to her natural, demonic, form. "Coward." Isis swiftly unarmed herself, putting down her various weapons that Buffy had given her. As soon as she had done that, she moved behind a tree, stripped off some of her outer clothing (so she wouldn’t return home in an odd situation), and closed her eyes and began to concentrate. The metamorphic demon quickly began to grow into the large, hairy, deadly, and beastly Palgorean-demon, the eater of vampires, tearing her remaining clothes she wore into tons of pieces.

Isis moved out from behind the tree, eyeing the swarm of vampires that were attacking Buffy, with the exception of that two that were fighting with Spike. She quickly picked her targets, got down on all fours as the beastly creature extended its sharp claws and quickly revealed its wooden thumb, and she lunged forward to attack.

Damien quickly rushed through the cemetery, heading straight towards the mausoleum, where the entrance to Lohesh’s underground realm lay. Unfortunately, there was a good chance that Damien might in fact bump into his master on the way down and if he did, the vampire would most likely never see the shine of the moonlight ever again. But, fortunately, that was not who Damien ended up bumping into…

As they rushed away from the two, potentially threatening, vampire killers (a Slayer and a cursed vamp), Damien and Kali slammed into each other, knocking the other vampire off of its feet, and quickly rose back up, preparing to attack. Both slowly halted when they quickly recognized the other vampire.

"Aren’t you suppose to be watching Jay?" questioned Damien, eyeing Kali for a moment.

"Pulled out a cross by surprised," answered Kali, slightly out of breath. She glared at Damien and stood tall, staring him down. "Aren’t you suppose to be watching the Slayer?"

"How many vamps would you reckon stay alive while watching a Slayer," replied Damien dryly. "Besides, the other vampires should be enough to handle the Slayer."

"Really?" asked Kali. "I mean if you can’t handle the Slayer-"

"Then they’ll take out those vamps, find Jay, and have to fight off the Drokken beast and the asanbosam vampires," interrupted Damien. "And if they’re still fighting them by the time Lohesh reaches the survivors, if there are any, he’ll do away with them."

"And what’ll he say when he finds that we abandoned our troops?" said Kali slowly. "I am his second in command, and you do lead a majority of his troops… we could simply say that we were forced to retreat."

"We were injured and had no other choice," continued Damien, with an agreeing nod. "So it’s settled then. There was nothing we could do about it?"

"Precisely," agreed Kali.

The two vampires slowly nodded and quickly continued darting towards the mausoleum that led underground to Lohesh’s domain.

Jay momentarily reverted to Jerrold to gather up his energy, take acouple of deep breaths, and think through his current situation:

Five deadly, powerful, and (from what it seemed) pissed off asanbosam vampires, were making their way towards the half-human, while the Drokken idly awaited for Jerrold to make his way towards it, and then attack.

Deadly and lazy, thought the teen to himself. Kinda sad, but still, that’s a nice combination. He took another deep breath as the five demonic vampires made their way towards Jerrold. "This should be fun."

Jerrold took his final breath, vamped out, and stood his ground, waiting for Kali’s asanbosam vampires to come to him.

Suddenly, the leading asanbosam vamp began growling and before the Doomed Vampire knew it, the twisted looking demon was only several feet away from him.

As the demonic creature slashed at him, Jay swiftly jumped back, dodging the crescent blade of the asanbosam vamp. The instant the vampire hit the ground, he was forced to duck, as the asanbosam vamp sliced through the air, attempting to cut Jay in half. Catching the vampire off guard, Jay pulled back his fist and punched the asanbosam vamp in the stomach, sending it stumbling backwards.

Jay gave a low growl, and plunged in towards the asanbosam vampire, but the demon quickly swung the flat side of its blade towards Jay and swatted the half-vampire, sending it flying backwards, knocking the wind out of him as he slammed to the ground.

As the asanbosam vampire rushed towards Jay, the half-vampire quickly turned on his side and shot out his leg, attempting to nail the other vamp in the stomach, but the asanbosam had seen it coming, and managed to catch the half-vampire’s foot with its scythe.

"Damn." Before Jay could react, the asanbosam took advantage of the off balanced half-vampire and used its strength to twisted the vampire’s foot, and spinning Jay with his foot, flipping him onto his back.

As Jay fell back onto the ground, he quickly did a little back roll to gain alittle distance from the vamp, and it was enough for him to get back up onto his feet, readying his stakes, and to prepare himself for attack.

As the asanbosam vamp rushed towards Jay, he pulled his right leg back, getting ready for a roundhouse kick. As soon as the other vamp got close enough, using his Slayer and vampiric agility, he struck his foot out towards the asanbosam, but the asanbosam vampire saw the attack coming. The other vamp shot up its sickle to block the blow, and before Jay could retreat the asanbosam slashed its sickle towards Jay and he leaned back to dodge the attack, quickly losing his balance and force him to tumble over.

Before he could even begin to rise up, the deadly asanbosam vampire lunged towards Jay, pinning him to the ground. The demon’s feet dug into the half-vampire’s legs, while its sickles trapped Jay’s arms in the ground, slightly slicing into his arms.

The asanbosam vampire growled with delight as it opened its mouth, revealing a row of sharp, silver, metal teeth, as its hot, rank, viciously dank, breath poured onto the vampire’s face, with Jay’s final thoughts as, Great… gross.

As the vamp’s hard, metal teeth began to pierce the half-vampire’s neck, and deadly force slammed into the asanbosam vampire, ripping it away from Jay, and psychically ripping its scythes from Jay’s arms.

"Arg!" screamed Jay, as the scythes slashed slightly deeper into his arms, and as something attempted to maul the asanbosam. It was then the half-vampire noticed Buffy and Spike going up against the other four asanbosam vampires, while a Palgorean demon was fighting the fifth asanbosam vamp.

"Great, the Slayer’s joining the fight," murmured Jay, getting up, and wincing with pain as he attempted to push himself up with his arms, quickly realizing his mistake. "Just hope she doesn’t go after me next." He sighed as he examined his arms, wiping off the blood the rolled down his arm. "Great, trapped in my sweltering school with a jacket and a long sleeved T-shirt again-"

Jay suddenly stopped talking as the gray, swift, Drokken, shot at full speed towards the weakened vampire.

Chapter Seven

Isis’s betrayal and confusion had given her enough time to get behind the group of vampires, transform into the deadly demon, and viciously attack the other vamps, still unbeknownst that Isis had taken Tami’s form. Plus, with the surprise attack from Spike, taking out two of the vamps, Buffy taking out three, and Isis devouring two, they managed to easily take out the vampires within minutes.

With Isis as the Palgorean demon, as Spike had called it, she was able to pick up the scent of some strange vampires not too far ahead. And low and behold there was the half-vampire… fighting off the asanbosam demons from the night before. And even if she wasn’t too fond of Jay, she had a feeling that they’d be fighting the same fight- even if he was a deadly demon.

Before even consulting with Buffy, Isis quickly leapt in to save Jay, who appeared to be pinned to the ground by the asanbosam vampire. But, Isis truly wasn’t like Willow, Xander, Riley, and the others; she seemed more apart of something else other than Buffy’s world, and she had her own view about things. In her mind, she didn’t need to consult with Buffy, for the heads up. In a way, this made her more free and more on her own than Buffy, giving her inner (demonic) power more strength to unleash. That was something Buffy rarely did, unless angered or by influence, like some days when she had fought side by side with Faith, the other Vampire Slayer.

She would need that power with her tonight.

Buffy’s eyes quickly shot back towards Spike, giving a little nod, as Spike revealed a curled smile as he gave an agreeing nod. And, instantaneously, Buffy and Spike swiftly rushed towards the asanbosam vampires.

As Spike and Buffy moved in towards the four twisted vampires, Spike pulled out a small crossbow that was clipped to the back of his belt, while the Slayer revealed her trusty stake from her inside jacket pocket.

The Slayer moved swiftly towards one of the two asanbosam vampires that were preparing to attack her. The asanbosam vampires began slicing their scythes in a circular pattern as they moved in towards, but were quickly halted as she sped towards the two twisted demons.

Moving faster than the two vampires could watch, the Slayer headed right in between the two asanbosam vamps and inches away from their blades she ducked down and began to turn in an evasive rotation, managing to move passed the scythes. The Slayer instantly appeared behind the two asanbosam vampires and plunged her stake into one of the asanbosam vamps as it began to crumble and explode into dust.

The second asanbosam vamp growled, but before it could react she shot a kick out towards it, kicking it in the back of the head. It majestically spun around and slashed its deadly scythes at her, quickly realizing that it had missed her by a long shot. The Slayer had quickly ducked down, dodging the blade and moved in towards the vampire. She jolted up, between the vampires’ arms, inches away from its chest and she quickly struck the demon with her stake as it began to crumble, and exploded in dust, shrouding the Slayer in a dusty cloud.

* * * *

Jay was hurled to the ground, as the beastly Drokken slammed into him to the floor. As he dropped to the ground, Jay howled in pain as the Drokken pinned his already bleeding arms to the ground, shattering his holy water in his pocket, and forcing him to crush one of his extra stakes.

As the Drokken continued to press the half-vampire down to the ground, the burning and searing pain that coursed through him focused in his adrenaline as he began to focus his vampiric and Slayer strength together, and began to raise up his arms that the Drokken was holding down. All of the sudden, the Drokken’s grip slipped and the Doomed Vampire’s force pushed the Drokken off of him, and Jay quickly gripped the beast and pushed him over, slamming him to the ground next to Jay.

Jay’s eyes briefly locked onto Isis and the asanbosam vampire as the two demons went at it. Thought Isis was powerful in her Palgorean form, the asanbosam’s scythes were quite deadly and would be able to easily slice through a Palgorean demon if it wasn’t careful. And it wasn’t even that. It was the fact that Isis had never actually faced an asanbosam vampire that set her back, plus she wasn’t sure how it handle the demon.

But then his eyes locked onto his fallen axe that he had lost early on in the fight. Jay quickly rushed towards his axe, when he suddenly felt a deadly force slam into him, as the Drokken pinned him to ground, digging his claws into Jay again.

Jay gave his dark demonic growl as glanced back at the demon and in the blink of an eye, the half-vampire slammed his elbow the Drokken face, knocking the demon down to its side. Jay quickly rolled over on top of the demon and reared back his fist and began pummeling the demon in the face over and over again, until he realized he was overdoing it, and that he should be helping Isis, Spike, and Buffy.

Jay quickly rose up and headed towards his axe, when suddenly he heard the Drokken begin to stir and he swiveled around just in time to see the demon inches away from slamming into him. Jay ducked and the Drokken soared over him and the half-vamp quickly spun around and saw the demon rush towards him again.

The Doomed Vampire shot out his foot, and kicked the demon in the face and it fell down to the floor, quickly getting back up again. And it lunged towards Jay again, and again the vampire ducked down to avoid incoming the demon. But this time, in midair, he shot out his fist and punched the Drokken in the stomach and sent it flying upwards in the air and it slammed into the ground acouple of feet in front of him.

And again, without even a little struggle, the Drokken simply rose back up.

"You know, a majority of things that take a pummeling like that wouldn’t get up that easily," growled Jay, as the Drokken started towards him again. "Course, that’s probably because they’d be dead."

"And then again, I’m sure most of the demons you’ve slain don’t come back." The Drokken rushed towards Jay again hesitating a moment before lunging towards Jay. Again the half-vamp ducked down, but this time, the Drokken swiveled around in midair and landed facing Jay and jumped the half-vamp, pinning him to the ground by his neck.

But it was then that he felt the sharp pain in his side and he screamed in pain. He repetitively elbowed the Drokken in its side until he drew forth his adrenaline again and apparently broke something inside of the demon, which forced the demon to begin to cringe in pain, which gave Jay a moment to figure out what was going on. He pushed the Drokken off of him, and rolled away from the demon, causing great pain as he did. He felt his side and pulled out part of the jagged piece of his small holy water jar, just in time to see the Drokken rushing at him. Jay ripped it out of his side and shoved the jabbed piece of glass at the Drokken’s face as it rushed towards him. The Doomed Vampire caught the Drokken right through the eyes, buried the glass deep into its skull. The Drokken howled in pain as it dropped to the ground.

"That’s gotta suck," murmured Jay, as the adrenaline slowly began to drain from him, and the immense pain rush through his body in its place. Jay hesitated for a moment as Isis’s tangle with the asanbosam vampire came to an end.

The surprisingly agile Isis managed to continuously dodge the asanbosam’s scythes as Buffy had done, and before the asanbosam could lock onto the movement of Isis, she appeared right in front of the demon and in an instant, Isis had pinned the asanbosam to the ground.

It was then that the asanbosam dug its claw into her back.

* * * *

The other asanbosam vampire hissed at Buffy and quickly slashed its scythe at the Slayer, but she again agilely dodged the swipes and this time the Slayer aimed for the demon’s kneecaps and it snapped backwards, making the demon fall on its back. With an easy strike, the Slayer instantly slayed the asanbosam vamp.

Buffy’s eyes quickly locked onto the remaining two asanbosam vampires that were attempting to slice Spike into tiny ribbons.

Spike, apparently having some experience in fighting demons similar to these, was easily dodging the two asanbosams’ as they slice through the air, attempting to behead the de-fanged vampire. Trying to throw punches and kicks every instant Spike had, it was obviously wearing down the two deadly vamps, but not as fast as it was wearing out Spike.

The Slayer quickly pulled out her cross, letting it come out from her blouse, and allowing it to dangle out in the open. She quickly moved towards the three vamps, who, as they all caught sight of what Buffy was wearing, rapidly cringed in pain and disgust.

Spike snarled and moved back away from the cross, allowing himself to get a little distance from the two asanbosam vampires before Buffy took care of them. As Buffy continued walking quickly towards the two vampires, holding up her cross, she broke into a run and the Slayer pounced towards the two asanbosams.

As the Slayer came in towards one of the asanbosams, she raised her fist and as she came down towards the ground, her fist smashed into one of the asanbosam’s faces (above the jaw). Not even turning to the other asanbosam, the Slayer’s elbow bashed into the demon’s chest and then her fist shot up and slammed into the demon’s face, which caused both the vampire and the Slayer extreme pain as she injured part of her hand from punching the demon’s iron teeth.

She reared her foot back and kicked the asanbosam in the stomach, sending it flying backwards. The Slayer quickly swiveled around and in a quick strike, she shot her palm up towards the first asanbosam’s jaw and sent the demon up in the air. As soon as it was close enough, Buffy quickly turned around and shot a back kick at the demon before it hit the ground and sent the demon flying towards Spike, almost knocking the vampire off of his feet.

"Well," muttered Spike with a little shrugged, "bugger this." The vampire pulled out a cigarette and search for his lighter, while Buffy continued to fight with the two deadly demons. He smirked with amusement as he finally got the cigarette lighter and watched as Buffy seemed to unleash her strength and went after the two asanbosams.

The Slayer shot her hand out towards one of the asanbosam vampires as it began to get up and spun around, hurling the asanbosam right towards the other asanbosam. The asanbosam agilely moved, allowing the other asanbosam to fly over head and this time slammed into Spike, knocking his lighter out of his hands.

The asanbosam crushed Spike as he slammed into the ground, but Spike swiftly tossed the demon off of him. "Bloody hell! Watch where you toss ‘em Slayer!" Spike snorted as Buffy ignored him and continued facing off against the asanbosam. "The bitch ain’t even listenin’ to me. Well then," muttered Spike, beginning to step away, "I hope the bleeding demon kills-" Spike instantly froze as the other asanbosam slashed at Spike, lightly grazing Spike’s chest, but cutting through his black shirt.

The asanbosam gave a little snarl and a pleased grin spread across its face, as he continued panting after facing off with Buffy. A stunned Spike just stared angrily at the demon as it rushed towards him and knocked Spike to the ground.

Spike quickly rush up, and swiveled around, vamped out and holding up his shirt, pointing to the slash through his shirt. "That, my friend, was a serious mistake…"

Chapter Eight

Isis gave a low howl in her Palgorean form, as the asanbosam’s sickle-like arm was plunged into Isis’s back. This would kill a normal Palgorean demon, but a metamorphic demon like Isis could only be killed if her head was sliced off. Anything else would just be extraordinarily painful, and even if she loss other limbs, if she were to reverted back to her demonic form, she’d be in perfect shape.

But then again, if the asanbosam sliced her down the middle, cutting her into two, Isis would most likely end up dead anyways.

Jay, still vamped out and pretty pissed, though also pretty exhausted and in a lot of pain, quickly rushed towards the demon’s aid. He quickly grabbed the asanbosam’s sickle and with all his strength he ripped the scythe out of Isis’s back and snapped it back, breaking the demon’s arm and forcing it to howl in pain.

Isis growled in anger and began rapidly clawing and mauling the opposing demon, slashing and cutting, getting revenge for cutting right through her. The metamorphic demon reared back and revealed her wooden thumbs and shot one straight towards the mauled asanbosam vampire, striking quickly and in the blink of an eye the demon exploded into dust.

"You all right Isis?" Jay asked slowly, as Isis rose up panting and heaving.

Isis shook off the dust that covered her fur and reverted back to her natural demonic form, rubbing her chest where the hole had been. "Ah yes, because getting impaled by a deadly demon happens everyday. Almost like clockwork…" Isis’s gray eyes quickly locked onto the other two battles and gave a little sigh, shaking her head. "I think the elders are a bit off of their game though."

She pointed to Spike and Buffy, who were still fighting against the other two asanbosam vampires. "I’m guessing that they could use our help."

Jay gave a nod, but both Jay and Isis quickly froze as a cold chill ran down their backs as they heard something moving behind them. Jay and Isis exchanged a confused glance and turned around. There was the Drokken, still with the piece of glass jabbed through its face.

"All you have to do is overcome the pain," the Drokken growled, as it rose up and began to walk towards them. "When you just keeping on ticking, like I do, you start out scared at first; worried that the pain won’t stop. But, once the pain just fades away, you’re truly invincible."

"Zombie?" murmured Isis.

"Far from," replied the Drokken, with a low snarl. "I’ve just been revived, and given, I guess, immortality of some kind."

"Ah, revivified and immortal?" replied Isis, with a sigh, glancing over at Jay. "Always a burden."

"Gotta hate it," agreed Jay, as he glanced around for his lost axe. His eyes locked onto it. His weapon was several feet behind the Drokken. He’d need to get passed the demon in order to get to it first. "Isis…"

"Right." Isis quickly began to concentrate and began to grow again, and transformed back into the deadly Palgorean demon. Isis gave a low growl before she lunged straight towards the Drokken, knocking the otherworldly demon on its back, and the two began viciously clawing away at each other.

* * * *

"First your lackeys ruin me tele," growled Spike, sweeping beneath the asanbosam’s claws, and grabbing its scythe before it could twitch and slash the vampires, "then you slice up me favorite shirt!" The asanbosam snarled and swung around his arm, until Spike lost his grip, hurling Spike through the air and dropping him to the ground.

Spike went into a roll, and quickly propped himself up and swiveled around, pulling out his crossbow again. Spike quickly fired the crossbow and tried to slay the asanbosam, but its deadly claw blocked the arrow, simply deflecting it onto the ground.

"Ah, worth a bleeding shot." Spike brought back his arm and swung the crossbow towards the asanbosam, attempting to hit it in the face. As it came towards the creature, he snarled and slashed at Spike as he came in towards the creature. It spliced Spike’s crossbow into two, but the de-fanged vampire quickly used its vampiric reflexes to punch the demon in the face, while it was momentarily distracted.

Too bad that didn’t help. Spike fist released a loud crunching noise as it slammed against the asanbosam demon’s mouth, which concealed his thick, heavy, iron teeth.

"Bloody hell!" screamed Spike, as he drew back his broken, bleeding, fist.

Buffy, who was still sparing off against the other asanbosam vampire, using all her Slayer-strength to pummel the demonic-vampire, risked at glanced back towards Spike. She swiftly noticed the asanbosam vampire preparing to slice off Spike’s head, decapitating him, and killing him (though, on some level, she realized she wouldn’t mind all that much if Spike was deader than he already was).

Before the asanbosam vampire could strike the occupied Buffy, the Slayer quickly swiveled around, hurling her wooden stake towards the asanbosam vamp, not caring if she nailed it in the heart, and quickly rushed towards the injured Spike.

Not hitting her target, the asanbosam vampire cried in pain, as Buffy’s wooden stake pulsed pain throughout the demon’s body as it stumbled backwards, attempting to get rid of the stake. But, without its hands, the asanbosam vampire could only slice off parts of the stake, not managing to get all of it out of its chest.

Buffy rushed towards asanbosam vampire, who was approaching the injured vampire, and before it could turn around, Buffy bounded upward and jumped onto the asanbosam’s back, using her arms to hold back the asanbosam’s arms, as well as using her legs to get around its chest. She had rendered the demon helpless, and in the same time, oddly enough, helped Spike.

Quickly realizing she only had Jay’s stake left, which was inaccessible to her, without freeing her arms, which would make her fall off the demon, and leave herself a target. Her only chance now was Spike.

"Spike!" cried Buffy, as the asanbosam vampire began jerking around, attempting to throw Buffy off of its back, but the de-fanged vampire simply shrugged it off.

"Bugger this," muttered Spike, holding his injured fist, turning around and preparing to walk away. But as it did, Spike heard the other asanbosam howl in pain again, and he quickly swiveled around and saw the demon rushing towards the struggling Slayer. "Buffy! Look out behind!"

Groaning with angry, and annoyance, Buffy continued to get thrown around, but this time she managed to shift her weight on the demon, forcing it to stumble around and to wail its arms around. She directed the asanbosam towards the other asanbosam, and as the monster came in towards Buffy, its fellow asanbosam vamp ended up slicing and slashing towards its ally, which resulted in decapitation of the incoming asanbosam.

That left one to go.

* * * *

As Isis and the Drokken continued to claw and slash at each other, both the Doomed Vampire and the metamorphic demon realized that even if they clawed and clawed and clawed, that the Drokken would simply keep on ticking and ticking. So, Jay needed some sort of plan, while Isis, in her Palgorean form, and the Drokken continued to claw at each other and fight.

He had virtually no more weapons, except one extra stake, but he didn’t think that it would end up doing all that much damage. He needed his axe, which was one the other side of the vicious biting and clawing.

But before he could do anything, Isis suddenly gave in. The Drokken reared back its legs, and kicked Isis, sending the huge demon hurling up into the air and slammed into Jay. As she slammed into Jay, the pain that surged through her from the fall forced her to revert back to her nature, weak demonic state.

The demon, whose face had Jay’s glass fragment indented in it, growled and quickly swiveled around, sensing (oppose to seeing, since its eyes had been damaged) that the metamorphic demon and the half-vampire not too far off.

"Back roll!" Jay ordered quickly.

"Right." Jay lay flat on his back and Isis quickly rolled back and swiftly got back up onto her feet. She stepped back and Jay pushed forward and did a backwards-roll to get quickly up onto his feet.

Unfortunately, their tumbling helped the Drokken lock onto their exact location and it quickly lunged towards Jay and Isis, knocking the two down again, and pinning them to the ground.

"Buffy!" cried Jay, as he felt the Drokken pressing down on him, and crushing him into Isis in the doing.

* * * *

"Buffy!" The Slayer’s eyes shot passed the asanbosam vampire, who she was fighting off, attempting to get around to staking it, but she was still unarmed so there wasn’t much she could do. Her eyes locked on the Drokken, who was crushing both Jay and Isis, and something deep down inside her realized that she needed to help the two of them, even if they were vicious demons.

There was only one person- well, vampire really- she could count on for help now. "Spike!"

Though, she realized that there was a very little chance that Spike would actually come to help her. So she continued to ride on the asanbosam vampire’s back, now holding onto his neck, giving her more support there than on his arms, attempting to somehow get a weapon of some sort to stake it or decapitate it.

But by the time that finally happened, Jay and Isis would be crushed and ripped to death by the vicious Drokken demon.

"Watch out!" Suddenly, Spike lunged at the preoccupied asanbosam vampire and tackled it to the ground, sending Buffy flying off of the asanbosam.

Shocked, she stared in awe as the injured Spike managed to hold down the angry and vicious asanbosam vampire from slashing and attacking. But the real question she was pondering was why was Spike saving her, when he despised her and wanted her dead?

"Uh, Slayer!" growled Spike, as he cringed in pain, holding down the wild asanbosam to the ground. "Wanna help a vampire out here!"

Buffy quickly pulled out Jay’s dagger-like stake, just as the angry asanbosam vampire pushed Spike off of it and sent him hurling up into the air and falling to the ground, landing on his arm with his injured hand.

The asanbosam vampire quickly began to pursuit Spike, forgetting about Buffy, who was rushing up behind the vamp.

The asanbosam vamp loomed over the de-fanged Spike, hissing and growling, as Spike realized he wouldn’t be able to get away in time.

"Sod off," replied Spike, snorted and rolling his eyes and shrugging off the deadly vampire.

The demonic vampire gave a high pitch screech as it lunged in towards Spike, but it quickly halted, and gave a short wail as it dropped to its knees and exploded into dust, revealing Buffy behind Spike.

Buffy eyed the Drokken as she pulled back her arm and she hurled Jay’s dagger-stake towards the Drokken and nailed the monstrous beast in the back of the neck.

Jay and Isis’s eyes widened in horror as the tip of the half-vampire’s stake peered at them through the Drokken’s neck and the deadly beast attempted to howl in pain. But, because Buffy had aimed for the Drokken’s neck, she had taken out his vocal cords, rendering the monster silent, as it screamed in horror.

Jay used his strength and pushed the Drokken off of the two of them, and they quickly rushed up onto their feet. He knew that it was going to almost be impossible to kill this thing with the weapons they had, so he did what he knew they would have to do. "Isis, this thing came back once. We need you to make sure it doesn’t come back again."

Isis’s face brightened, as she revealed her several rows of demonic teeth in her smile. "You mean drink?"

"If it’ll kill it," replied Jay.

"That may not kill it, but it’ll weaken it long enough for one of you to dispose of it some way," explained Isis happily, almost hopping with joy. "With no blood running through its system, it’ll be pretty weak, and in a stake of shock. I seriously doubt it’ll do anything for a long while. Plus, then, I could gain a Drokken form- an otherworldly creature, within my blood-"

"’Kay, don’t really care about that," the half-vampire interrupted, as he took a deep breath and reverted back to Jerrold, his human form, wincing as he felt more of the pain flood in. "Just get it done."

"Yay!" cheered Isis, as she leaped and grasped Jerrold, hugging him tightly. "Thank you Jerrold! I promise not to try to kill ya for awhile, kay?"

Jerrold sighed and pointed towards the stunned demon. "Isis."

"Okay, okay." Isis released Jerrold and moved in front of the half-human, slowly walking towards the injured Drokken, as her eyes turned a blood red, paralyzing the opposing demon. Isis bared her several rows of her sharp, demonic, teeth, as she prepared to drain the Drokken.

As Isis sunk it several rows of teeth into the neck of the already bleeding Drokken, no one seemed to notice the demon, Lohesh, peering over them within the darkness of the night. He stared in anger as he saw the metamorphic demon drain his prized Drokken, as quickly realized that Damien and Kali were nowhere in sight.

He would go down there himself, but he wasn’t sure if he’d make it with the Doomed Vampire, the Slayer, and their two demonic allies fighting against him. Why endanger myself in something like this, when Kali, Damien, or one of the other vampires could easily do this, sometime later, thought Lohesh. No point putting himself in danger.

And with that, Lohesh spread his four wings, and flew up into the night sky, waiting for them to leave, so that he could return to his realm and find the traitors who had fled from battle…

* * * *

"Ow," mumbled Spike, as he blinked acouple of times and peered around, realizing that he had somehow found his way from being unconscious outside to being in pain inside his crypt. It took him a second to identify Isis, who was still in her metamorphic demon form.

"Awake, finally," muttered Isis, as she gave a little smile, revealing several of her rows of teeth within her demonic mouth.

"You’re not gonna eat me, are you?" asked Spike slowly, as he pushed himself up, quickly wincing in pain from his injured hand.

"Nah, not tonight anyways." Isis turned around and glanced around Spike’s crypt. "Um, we managed to take out all of the asanbosam vampires, but we need a big axe or something to slice up the Drokken demon."

"It’s behind me broken tele," answered Spike, as Isis nodded and hurried over there. "Why?"

"Some sort of enchantment or power or something is preventing this thing from dying, but it can feel pain and can be injured," explained Isis, as she hesitated digging into the remains of Spike’s TV. "So, we weakened it enough so that it won’t be moving for awhile, and now we’re gonna chop it up a bit tonight, and then finish it off and spread it around Sunnydale tomorrow."

"Lovely," muttered Spike, as he watched Isis pick up the axe and swung it over on her back. "That all?"

Isis glanced back towards Spike, as she prepared to leave his crypt. "Yeah, pretty much. Just rest up a bit, and you should be fine by tomorrow night."

"Always will lil bit," replied Spike with a wink. "Be careful."

Isis smiled and winked back. "Always will."

* * * *

"Well, well, well," grumbled the huge, winged demon, who bared the mystical sword that had revived the deadly Drokken. Lohesh loomed over Damien and Kali, and his other vampires, who had failed him that night. "I pulled out a demonic creature from a savage, demonic, world, summoning great powers and magicks to empower this creature, and you both get it killed… Twice!" Lohesh swung his sword around in the air, slicing through the silence of Lohesh’s realm and planted the sword, inches away from Damien and Kali. "And what do you two do? Run like pathetic, little humans!"

Lohesh gave a loud, blood-chilling roar the echoed throughout his underground realm.

The two vampire soldiers looked down at the ground and in unison they both mumbled, "Sorry." Apparently, their brilliant plan they had conjured up while trying to escape from the Doomed Vampire and the Vampire Slayer wasn’t panning out as they hoped.

"I rank you my second in command Kali," growled Lohesh, as he stepped towards the psychic vampire, "give you power over these demons, and giving you an army of asanbosam vampires, and what do you do? Get six of them dusted!" roared Lohesh angrily.

"Sorry," murmured Kali again.

"And you, Damien," sneered Lohesh, swinging his head towards the vampire. "The only reason I put you in charge of the army is because I heard you were a strong vampire, and that you have lineage with Jay and his mother." Lohesh growled as his hand shot out and grabbed Damien by the neck, lifting him up. "But like the rest of these vampires, you are expendable."

"Yes, Master," Damien managed to say. "Sorry Master."

Lohesh nodded and dropped Damien down to the ground next to the groveling Kali. "I could find any demon to be my second in command or leading my demonic army. You are both replaceable."

"Yes, Master," Damien and Kali agreed, lowering their heads.

"In order to make this up," growled Lohesh, pulling his sword out from the ground, "you will need to provide an extremely deadly debt to me. Something that could replace pulling out a demon like that Drokken would surely put you both back on my good side."

Kali nodded, slowly lifting up her head. "Yes, I-I agree completely, Master."

"Both Kali and I have already discussed a plan to take down Jerrold and his little friends," insisted Damien, lifting up his head as well.

"And what might that be?" asked Lohesh.

"A summoning," answered Kali. "When we know if it’ll work, we’ll inform you of our plans, and then we’ll bring her to you."

"And if it fails?" asked Lohesh.

"It’s on Kali’s head if it doesn’t work," replied Damien reassuringly, with a little smirk, as he shot a brief glance towards the psychic vampire.

"Fine," replied Lohesh. "Just make sure it works. Because if it doesn’t…" Lohesh sighed as he glanced around his underground realm, filled with dozen of vampires. He raised up his sword swung it towards the crowd of vampires and sliced through the crowd, cutting and slashing several of the vampires that stood in the way of the blade, as well as decapitating three of them. "One more head shall roll."

Buffy gave a big sigh of relief as she finally reached the tiny steps to her house. After her fight against the vampires, the asanbosam vampires, the demon, and of course the half-vampire, she was pretty worn out, even for a Slayer. All she wanted to do now was go to her house, curl up on her bed in her house (oppose to her dorm room), and sleep for the rest of the day. And of course she would eventually stop over at Giles’s to talk about the demons and fill him in on the new information about Jay, so the Scoobies wouldn’t be off searching for him.

But that would come tomorrow. Now she would sleep.

Buffy walked up the steps of her home and as she did, she suddenly froze in horror as she noticed her door slightly ajar. From the feeling she was getting, and the opened door, it looked as if someone had broken into her house.

She quickly rushed through the door of her house, bursting into it, but before she could get too far through the door, she slammed into someone. She quickly glanced up to see Riley standing in front of her.

"Buffy," whispered Riley happily. "Your mom said you were out on patrol, so I just waited-"

But before Riley could finish, Buffy grabbed him and brought him closer towards her, and they quickly embraced in an intimate, romantic kiss, which they both of them knew would eventually lead them upwards into Buffy’s room…

Willow: You know, Buffy's had to deal with all these fiends over the years- from the Master to Angel to the Mayor to Adam. And now this vampiric fiend named Jay. Course, it would've been helpful for Buffy to tell us that Jay's a good-guy vamp, instead of being off with Riley. But hey, things usually work out… right?

In order to makeup for their past failure, Damien and Kali cast a dark and powerful spell in order to summon Crystal, a civatateo witch-vampire that had been sealed within a hell-dimension, in order to reign havoc on Sunnydale. And with Buffy occupied with Riley, that leaves the Slayer out of the mix. And with the help of her vampire lackeys, Kali isn’t just targeting Jerrold, she’s target the Slayer’s closest friends, the Scoobies, who still remain unbeknownst of the half-vampire’s siding in all of this. Now Jay and Isis must team up in order to save the Scoobies, as well as one of their friends who Crystal is using because of her magickal lineage. But will the duo prove strong enough to face off against a civatateo vampire, in part one of Doomed - The Hunt.

And coming soon…

A powerful demon, with the ability to influence a creature’s darkest and most oppressed thoughts, will attack the Doomed Vampire in order to unleash his darker intentions upon Sunnydale. And with the Scoobies occupied with a demon infestation, that leaves only Jerrold’s friends, enemies, and loved ones to save him before he’s gone forever, in the first three-part DSV arch and first Doomed Special event. Depression (Events take place during Nancy Holder and Jeff Mariotte’s Unseen triology.)
