While Angel investigates the murders, Cordelia tracks down a band of child pickpockets. Surprisingly, both searches lead to the same place: a wealthy slumlord who has all but imprisoned the children's immigrant parents.
And conducts elaborate rituals to Latura, the Indonesian God of the Dead.
Angel, Doyle, and Cordelia may have had a rock start in L.A., but they realize they've got it much easier than the immigrants. Characteristically, Angel wants to help. But can he free them from the Feast of Latura? And if not, will they become the next sacrifices of someone's quest for immortality?

Review: Although Nancy Holder's writing for the series premiere novelization was great, this book wasn't all too wonderful. Though we have our usual array of characters--Angel, Doyle, Cordelia, Kate, and original characters--and an Angelus/Darla flashback, and the book was quite griping at the beginning, it begins to unravel towards the end of the book. The ending itself is not all too strong either. It's one of the better Angel books, but it's not extremely great. Two and a Half Stars.
